Ruben Bain Jr's arm length concerns

Awful year to need an Edge...

Him and Howell are 2 of the better pass rushers and will likely both have sub 31 inch arms which.

Said it in another post - If Bain drops to the cowboys pick I'm taking him in a heartbeat. Stop worrying about the measurables. Watch the tape between the ideal measurable guy Faulk vs Bain - there is no comparison.

I agree........no way he's getting past the Cowboys

Hmmm. Maybe this works to our advantage. Game tape says all around DE. Rush and Pass. Great bend and powerful. A bit of a bully on the field.

Per Brugler

"Miami DL Rueben Bain will be one of the more polarizing prospects in this class. I talked more about it on today's pod.

Plenty of Day 2 grades from NFL scouts. Viewed as a DT by several teams due to his size (6-2, 277, 30 3/4" arms, 9 1/4" hands)."

No...

if he could put on some weight maybe DT. 3T
this is a case where you have to really look at the tape
I would be wary of a first rd pick here

You know ......he could be one of those guys John Madden would say, forget the measurements, he's a football player. He will show up every game.......

The arm length would still be an issue inside.

The tape is fine but it is only 1 piece of the puzzle. The other piece is he has also never had top 15 production.

Hard pass for me with our 1st pick...maybe with our 2nd.

Too much data out there in the year 2025 to have that kind of mindset.

You mean like passing many team passing on RB Skatteo..........IMO, sometimes teams/fans/media overthink with that same data. How many teams would love to have Bo Nix now?
Skattebo was drafted in the 4th round not in the top 15. He also plays a different position. That is not even in the same discussion. He was also 32nd in YPA in the league before getting hurt so mid round seems like a pretty accurate pre draft assessment.

Nix is a QB...all it takes is 1 team to fall in love every year for someone to get over-drafted. He also has the best defense in the league and a HOF HC. Dude is 3-1 this year when throwing for less than 200 yards.

Jalon Walker fit the throw out the measurables scenario and he's been arguably the best rookie edge. Will campbell is another example. As much as you say you follow the draft I don't know why you're arguing with him that teams every year throw out measurables.

I get that, but you're really fighting history here.

The odds are overwhelmingly likely that he will never be a double digit sack guy, and do you want to spend a premium 1st round pick on that?

Hmmm, that’s weird. Where did you folks hear Bain was being overrated and not a blue chip prospect first?

Me.

This is not to say he’s a trash prospect. He’s just not anywhere near the Top 3 prospect he’s being purported to be on multiple draft outlets.

Parsons arm length is 31.5, Nick Bonitto & Bryon Young are 32.5. Tuipulotu 32. I know this sound perverted but we are talking 1/2 to an inch. Bains' tape is dominate.

Walker had 32 inch arms...short but he meet the minimum threshold IMO.
