the LS3 engine thats found in the base Corvette. which is pretty easy to believe seeing how the 4th gen received both Corvette engines that ran during that time (LT1 and LS1). While it may not be the 430 hp rating the 'vette has it could be detuned for 390-400 :D enough for me to keep up with Rack. ALso noted the v6 would be a direct enjected v6 most likely the 3.6L with a hp rating of ~280

there was a exe. meeting in durham and my ****** was in attendance and called me soon after... some notes worth mentioning... the ls3 will be in the 2009 launched camaro in some available trim, the 6 cyl is DI unit, at least the front brakes will be 4 piston, there will be a remote start keyfob, the gas filler door will not be above the fender line, the headlight arrangement , grill, side marker lamps, and auxillary foglights have yet to be finalized... AND there will be a non legal/non-road-going camaro avalible to dealers and race teams, the engine, and drivetrain is un-announced but will be limited to production of less than 500 units

I love the camaro. I think the 09 is beutiful and a very nice addition to the Camaro lineup of old.

Recently, I have been converted to Mopar, since owning my 07 300c. I have already talked to my dealer and will be notified when I can place my order for an 09 Challenger.

An amazing vehicle

Its amazing how they went back to a retro design with a touch of "today". Looks good.

The New Camaro is my favorite. Although I was high on the GTA in the late 80's early 90's. I wonder if that is in the works as well.

Who started the retro look? Ford with the Thunderbird?

I've been planning on trading in my '06 Mustang for either a Camaro or Challenger depending on price and on test drives. I'm back on forth on which I like as far as appearance. I'm going to the KC Auto Show next weekend, so hopefully they'll have one of each there. I've seen the Camaro in person already but not the Challenger.

I think I'm leaning towards the Camaro since I've heard the Challenger will be a bit pricier and the Camaro having a bit more hp. Time will tell.

This is definitely gonna raise the price tag on the Camaro though right?

I was thinking about getting one, especially since the Challenger was going to be about 15 Gs more. But this vette engine might just put it out of my price range.

You bes' keep that sucker at 430 hp if you want to keep up with me.

Seriously though, not sure yet but I'm guessing my 440 is gonna put out about 450 hp. I'm dropping a lot of weight in the engine compartment too (aluminum heads, aluminum radiator, aluminum water pump, an alterktion front suspension kit that'll drop 150 lbs by itself, r&p steering, etc... ). I'll probably end up dropping about 300lbs from the engine bay. However, I'm putting a roll bar in (vastly helps stiffen the chassis, improving handling greatly) that I think that adds back another 200 lbs. :laugh2:

I will own one of those some day.

Camaro? I'd love to have a '67 or a '69. I may restore one of those next since they're alot cheaper to restore than a Mopar.

I also heard rumors of an SS edition with like 540 hp. Heard anything on that?

I would like to get one with a paint job similar to this:

They need to be in the same price range as the base mustang or they won't sell like they want them to.

yes i have from a up tuned LS7 (427 c.i.d./7.0L) to a detuned LS9 (383 c.i.d./6.2l S/C) motor for the top dog SS/Z28. i will get the SS regardless just because of the heirtage and name sake. that paint job is cool but i'd take black w/ red racing stripes

Yeah I think that's where I got that picture. This was my 2nd favorite, but I wouldn't even want to think of what it would cost to get a good flame paint job.

Just got back from the KC Auto Show where I was able to see the Camaro (bumblebee version) and Challenger. I have to say visually, the Challenger is a thing of beauty. We saw the Camaro first and it's very nice and I saw more of the muscle look than I had previously. Then when we went over to the Dodge area and the crowds cleared a little and I got a glimpse of the Challenger, I completely forgot all about the Camaro. It's just a bad*** car.

Downside is that it's $37-42k. Not sure exactly what the horse power is either. I'm still going to have to test drive both and see what the actual costs end up being, but at that price the Challenger is probably a long shot. It sucks too, because it looks so good.

Yeah me too. Both make me feel "meh" about my '06 Mustang. Of course the fact that it's FORD doesn't help either.
