I got this from another board so if someone could verify this I would appreciate it.....

All over the scout.com message boards its being said that Fox Sports radio and now John Clayton are saying Detroit gets the #3, #36, and a 7th for the #2 pick...

Anyone else hearing this or anything similar??? I'll check back after i take out the crennel bulletts and load the Savage shells...

Either Savage is playing the ultimate poker game and will now try to hold the #2 hostage or BRADY QUINN is going to be wearing a pumpkin on his head...

any time you can maybe move 1 spot and still get a great player then you have to do it. Me, I'm Detroit and I maybe don't want OT or WR and got burned at QB in the past and I'll just sit there and try to trade back 2 or 3 times so I can build a real team.

If I'm Detroit I make that deal.

Then I call Tampa and ask them if they want to move up one spot.

So if this goes through then it looks like this..

Oakland - Jamarus Russell
Cleveland - Brady Quinn
Detroit - Calvin Johnson/Joe Thomas
Tampa Bay - Calvin Jonson/Joe Thomas

Detroit could stock pile extra picks if they did call Tampa. They must really like Joe Thomas if they want to make that deal to 3. Or are going to go with another first round receiver.

Yeah.... Cleveland is for sure going to take Adrian Peterson, absolutely no shot in hell he slips past 3, pretty safe bet to put your life on that one.

ive been reading that Detroit has their eye on Gaines Adams and Thomas could fall to Arizona at #5

1. OAK- Russell
2. CLE- Quinn
3. DET- Adams
4. TB- C. Johnson
5. ARI- Thomas

I dont get it........Detroit at #2 is going to switch spots with Cleveland at #3 and Cleveland is going to give Detroit their 2nd rounder and throw in a 7 just to swap???

Am I missing something here guys, seens kinda dumb to toss a high 2 away just to swap. Pretty obvious Detroit is not worried Cleveland is going to take their player or they wouldnt trade. So why is Cleveland going to donate a high 2 to swap places with the team picking in front of them when that team is not going to take the same player???

I must have misunderstood something because tossing a high 2 to swap spots with the team in front that is not even going to take your player seems dumb, real dumb.

I'm sorry but if the Browns trade up the owner needs to fire then shoot the GM. Then shoot himself for hiring him in the first place.

The Browns have needs all over the place, they can get a "Great Player" w/o trading away other picks (high picks) that need to be used to fill MORE needs.

They can either get Calvin Johnson, Adrian Peterson (too soon for him IMO), or Brady Quinn... they don't have to trade up to get one of those players.

Edit: Just reread your post. Sorry, I had it basackwards. In that case, I agree. Smart move for Detroit, but an incredibly DUMB move for Cleveland (if true).

I'm a bit confused. Who could Detroit nab that Cleveland couldn't live without? The top of this draft is rich in prospects.

the Browns did the same sort of stupid move 3yrs ago when they traded a 2nd rd pick to move up one spot for that waste of time Winslow...same two teams in the trade too...Lions took Roy Williams

It's actually a smart move if you have a guy you really MUST have. It's not a question of Detroit taking the guy you want...the problem is that everyone knows Detroit will trade the pick for a good offer, and you don't want another team leap-frogging you and stealing the guy you want at the top of the draft, so you make the deal...then you're sitting there on draft day knowing you're going to get your man. Sitting pat at #3 could mean you lose the player you want and suddenly no one wants to move up to #3 and let you out of paying huge money to a guy you're not really excited about.

is accurate, a logical explanation would be that they're moving up to get Calvin Johnson. This might be a poker game that Detroit is playing to get extra picks in this draft. They're probably telling Cleveland that Tampa has been contacting them about a possible swap so the Bucs could take Johnson.

The Lions would still take Thomas at #3, only they'd have extra picks to address other needs.

Perfect explanation on why Cleveland wants to make the move....

I think too much Romeo - Weiss connection to believe that Cleveland wants to trade up to secure Adrian Peterson.

Yeah, after going out of their way to sign Jamal Lewis, they are going to spend even more money on another RB..........

It's fairly simple, if Cleveland trades with Detroit for their spot, it assures them that a team like Tampa cannot jump them at the last minute, and take Quinn. As fast as Quinn was reportedly falling in January, is just as fast as he is rising now after the workouts and interviews, and for good reason. The guy knows football with the best of them, and has all of the physical skills to go along with it. Also, a great personal attitude.

Also...Miami could try and move up there as well.

They run basically the same offense. Quinn could step in from day one.
