Rumor: Eagles to pursue Sean Payton if he’s available

Saints coach Sean Payton is meeting with General Manager Mickey Loomis tomorrow, and he’s going into it with at least one suitor.

The Philadelphia Daily News' Paul Domowitch reports the Eagles will pursue Saints coach Sean Payton if he becomes available.

The Saints are not going to fire Payton, but there have been persistent rumors he will be available for trade. The Eagles would not be the only team interested if Payton became available, but it is still unclear if anyone would be willing to pay the Saints' asking price. The Eagles look poised to move quickly in their coaching search, so we will likely know if this rumor has any juice in the next week.

IMO that upgrades the Eagles if he lands there, same with NYGiants. I barely had time to enjoy the offseason.

I wouldn't get indigestion over it. The Eagles have no 2nd round pick, so it is not like they have a lot to trade. So Payton is going to go somewhere with no QB? I doubt it.

I also do not see the normally conservative Giants giving up choices for a coach.
