It appears their source is a message board, though.

Victor Cotto of Raiderfans.net reports that the Raiders will sign Unrestricted Free Agent quarterback Jeff Garcia (Eagles). This move has been rumored for several days, and it looks to be true.
Garcia will likely be the starter for at least the beginning of the 2007 season while Andrew Walter and any quarterback who is drafted will take some time to learn. This move gives the Raiders a solid veteran leader at the quarterback position, which is something that has been lacking since the days of Rich Gannon.
If the organization still views Andrew Walter as the quarterback of the future, this is a good move to give him time to regroup from the unmitigated disaster that was the Tom Walsh offense, and relearn the game which is something that Jerry MacDonald of the Oakland Tribune reports that insiders say that Walter needs. If the organization has lost faith in Walter, they will likely draft either JaMarcus Russell or Brady Quinn and allow either of them a year behind Garcia to learn the pro game. Either way this move gives the Raiders a one to two year starter who is familiar with the offensive coordinator and has shown a tendency to overachieve.
This move also gives a glimpse of the type of offense that Lane Kiffin will be running in 2007. Gone will be the seven step drop and long bomb every down that was the essence of the failed Tom Walsh experiment, and in its place there will be more shorter routes and quarterback roll outs which are the type of plays where Garcia has found the bulk of his success.
No terms have been released for the deal.

What's wrong with long bombs on every play? Works on Madden all the time. :)

Well, it's time for him to come out anyway. Now is as good a time as any.

If true, look for Calvin Johnson in black.

Garcia is not a long bomb type of QB.

on a related note...does anyone remember the segment that espn (I think it was them) did on the combine the yr Alex Smith was there? It was showing the whole interview process and Smith was sitting there with scouts from 3 or 4 teams...each was asking questions

this is no lie- when it was the SF scouts turn his question was "do you have a girlfriend"...all the others were asking football related questions or stuff regarding his workout...but not SF

TEXANS IN MIX FOR GARCIA?

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans are interested in quarterback Jeff Garcia.

The report comes at a time when there are rumors that Garcia has reached a deal with the Raiders. We have been unable to confirm or debunk said rumors.

"Yeah, we chased him in Denver," coach Gary Kubiak, former Broncos offensive coordinator, said. "I've always been impressed with the guy. He's one tough son of a gun. He makes smart decisions. He's been productive just about everywhere he's been."

Say what you want, but the dude scores some hot biscuits.

And yes, biscuits is a crappy word to use, but this is a family site.

I have no clue if the guy is gay or not, but gay men have been known to hire pretty women to walk on their arm so others won't think they are gay.

That's the first thought I had when I saw a goof like Garcia with a Playboy bunny on his arm.

Of course he does have money and that brings'em in too.:laugh2:

I simply don't care.

Garcia doesnt have the arm to play Raider passing game.....unless of course they go back to the west coast offence ......highly unlikely tho....

Bad fit there.....IMHO

Kiffin QB's at USC have not been known for the big arms either. Under his system Garcia may work out. Also I think this is to ensure they have a vet QB in place so that they are not forced to throw in their rookie QB from day 1 (most expect the raiders 1st choice to be QB).
