a friend of mine told me that on nfl films show on espn that jon gruden was asked if he would like to be the head coach

gruden said no, he would rather be the offensive coordinator and that the cowboys really have the players to run the wildcat offense and he could help us there too. As well as utilitzing the players on offense to really scoring?

supposedly on an nfl show on espn, jon gruden was asked if he would like to be the head coach of the cowboys

gruden said no, he would rather be the offensive coordinator, that he really could help this team, utilizing the strenghts on offense and really make the wildcat operate in dallas;

i didnt see it, a friend of mine told me what gruden said on the show

If it's Garrett as HC, Gruden as OC, and someone else young and fresh as DC, then maybe...? I wouldn't be horribly opposed. I just do not like Gruden having decisions over personnel and over coaching.

NO way... get that dud outta here.

Garret as HC with gruden as OC wouldnt work. Gruden has too much clout and would essentially run team while firecrocth designed more delayed draws.

Guys, it doesn't matter who the coach is ... Jerry Jones runs the show.

So don't get your diapers wet over what Gruden supposedly said.

I dont' think it'd make sense for Gruden to be the OC under Garrett. They are both OC's. Then again, I don't think it makes sense for Garrett to be HC, but that's another matter.

What'd make more sense would be for Gruden to be the OC with a defensive minded HC, like say, Cowher!

Heck I could deal with Gruden as OC, even under Wade Phillips. Not as good as Shanahan in my books, but still better than Garrett.

That would be a AWESOME coaching staff.

Sign Holmgren to a 3yr contract and have it stipulated that Gruden takes over when Holmgren retires.

We talked about this monday, this was my fantasy philosophy.

Since gruden is the low guy on the todem pole of available coaches, and since he wont be getting money from Tampa next year while working for espn HIm being an OC again makes sense.

It would be pretty awesome to have him as oc with holmgren as head coach.
We already have a wr and rb coach that have been with one or both of them.

I wonder if someone just read something on the internet, maybe even here and started saying this stuff. It makes no sense for gruden to publically want to be an OC.

He's already employed by the Broncos... Nice try.

+1...Denver won't let him go anytime soon.
