I think dak is backup next year tho.

That would be great and I would be ecstatic for Romo. I just think Dak and his intangibles are the best option until they falter. I would say it's more likely he is released but I think if a trade is possible, they will do it. If he plays and gets hurt again, no one will trade for him and he should probably retire anyway.

Romo is clearly the better player. There's a reason he had the starting job and Dak was 3rd string. Romo has better mechanics, makes better adjustments and is more experienced.

Now people use terms like "business" but that's not what this is. If this is true, it's stabbing the only guy who has kept you relevant(only guy who saved Garrett's job and the better player) in the back for a guy who all we know is he's hot right now with a stellar team around him.

Now I'm a Cowboys fan but this move would be disgusting especially how Jerry said Romo's team... oh wait, Changed my mind. No different than the Jimmy firing.

Jimmy firing, letting Sean Payton walk... moves that breed mediocrity in a league filled with parody.

I love the Cowboys and will hold out hope Jerry is getting better at this...but if Tony goes elsewhere next season over this, I'll root pretty hard for him.

Tony is healthy and has been for weeks. Time for him to be active, as the backup. Clearly Dak is the guy. But if he goes down I need Romo, not Sanchez. They just need to come out and declare Tony the backup. It's clear as day. The team has rallied around Dak and everyone knows it. That's why healthy Romo hasn't even been active. Make no mistake, Tony has been healthy since the Philly game.

Agreed about retiring. I saw Footage of him throwing and he had like a back brace and looked frumpy and I got really sad it might be over for him he was never a physical marvel before all of this
 
If the team is going to officially be Dak's team now, I wouldn't be shocked if it's not officially announced until the offseason to avoid the media flurry and fan meltdown (from some) that would likely ensue.

Romo doesnt have a choice but to accept that he is a backup. If HOF'ers like Manning and Montana were cut and traded, why do people on here act as if a guy who is about to retire as a backup with 2 playoff wins in 10 years should get his job right back once he returns? Someone please explain me to this because thats absolutely ridiculous

And that would be fine. I hope he does go somewhere else where he can start. He's too good to be a backup. That doesn't change what the right call is here, which is moving forward with Dak, IMO.
 
Perhaps it's time for Romo to give Drew Bledsoe a call to absorb some knowledge.
