IR to return or just IR? The difference is huge.

Edit: Just found out that you can now bring back 1 person from the IR.

That frees up the spot for Sanchez, true?

I'd assume he designated to return, but don't know.

Teams no longer have to designate which player they want to reactivate from Injured Reserve.

It must be for a long term injury, but one single player may be re-called from Injured Reserve after sitting out.

It seems that players on IR before the cut to 53 may not be eligible.

I'm pretty sure the rules changed so that 1 player can return, but they no longer have to designate in advance who it will be.
According to PFT (and I pause here for laughter) the rule change allows teams to make that designation after the player has been on injured reserve for six weeks, at which point he’s eligible to return to practice although he can’t play until eight weeks have passed.

That would have him coming back the week after the bye for game 8 vs. Philly.

Even if Dallas doesn't have to designate the return, they actually are and they've effectively already used it if this is the case.

If that does happen, it's Dak or bust this year. Forget any hold the fort and "when Romo comes back" talk.
