guys, i see where it is reported that the vikings are considering trading bryant mckinnie to dolphins for jason taylor, should we consider trading greg ellis for mckinnie, that would give spencer more time to play and develop, and we would get possibly a big time OT.

McKinnie to replace Adamas? He just got a nice new paycheck. Colombo is as solid as they come and is cheap. If I recall, McKinnie has a big salary.

I would rather have Taylor than McKinnie.

Viks would be stupid to do that deal. They already have a good defense and their whole offense revolves around McKinnie and Hutchinson opening up room for Peterson.

If McKinnie is worth Taylor then there is no way that Ellis is worth McKinnie. Taylor is one the best DEs to play this game. Ellis is good but not anywhere near Taylor's level.

I agree Taylor is better than Ellis but not that great. I'd certainly pick Taylor over Ellis for my pickup team. Ellis can contribute at two positions though and I'd say he is more valuable to this team than Taylor. Now if Spencer could take Ellis's place then I'd rather have Taylor at pass rushing end than Ellis. But for a 3-4 team Ellis is multi-dimensional and more valuable IMO.

Taylor played OLB in the 3-4 in Miami which they ran primarily in 05 and 06 - He won the defensive player of the year one of those years.

Ellis is a one-time probowler, Taylor is a year removed from a DPOY award. They are not equals at all. Taylor is a much, much better player. The Vikings would never make this trade.

except McKinnie isnt a bigtime OT...and he's a turd

considering where he was picked, he's a borderline bust....he's never been more than average

dude, I'd do that deal all day long...one guy is an ultra productive, big time pass rusher who gives his all every down and was just DPOY recently

the other is an overrated slob who's never been more than average on the field, and is a total turd off of it

Parcells would have to be just senile to consider such a deal

Forgot about that. I don't see him being worse at OLB that Ellis who I must admit is better at it than I thought he would be. I don't see Ellis or Taylor being great 3-4 OLBs doing it all. Ellis is clearly a better pass rusher than a complete OLB.

Ellis is the new Coakley
Appears so. We finally get a rush and some want to dismantle it. Doesn't make much sense to me.

I'm not in favor of trading Ellis. As I said, I think he is more valuable to the Cowboys than Taylor would immediately be. I don't think of Taylor as a 3-4 OLB type. Ellis has played in our system for two years and I don't see Taylor stepping in and being as valuable as Ellis.
