You guys are so short sighted, Dmac has so much more value to this team in the near and long term if he chooses.
Our second and third team D gets to practice against a former #4 pick who is arguably in the prime of his career.
He has the right attitude and work ethic, the consummate professional. He is also very good in protection which is arguably the biggest skill set the back up/3rd down back needs.
He is pretty much a complete back and play calling won't be telegraphed/limited by him being in the game.
On a personal note I think we will see him in a closer type roll similar to how Marion Barber was used with JJ. I think we will see him come in during the third quarter in games we are leading, try to get him on the edge and into the secondary where he will punish(or hurt like those two guys in Washington last year) tacklers.
If he decides to resign here he would be a tremendous asset to the organization and would most likely extend his career longevity and I'd argue that he could be more successful on less carries here than he would if he were the starter elsewhere.
I'm not saying don't shop DMac. Absolutely, take a look and see what other teams will offer. But it would have to be something GOOD.
Guy was 4th in the league rushing the ball last year when teams had absolutely no fear whatsoever we could beat them with the pass.
One problem is that McFadden does not play Special Teams. It would be unlikely to have both McFadden and Morris active with neither playing ST.
While I think it is an overrated issue, McFadden functions better in man-blocking than in zone-blocking while Morris has always been a Zone runner.
Dunbar when healthy does play ST.
McFadden had a better year than Morris in 2015, but Morris has much better stats prior to that.
Morris has never missed a game in his NFL career. McFadden has not been much better than Dunbar about staying healthy.
I don't think the can keep McFadden on the NFI indefinitely if he is healthy enough to play. If a team would give up a draft pick for McFadden they would have to at least consider it.
