I keep hearing about Miles Austin, Roy Williams et al. But we need to control the clock against Seattle. I want to see us running the ball more. We were great in the passing game against Atlanta, and we needed to be. However, for this game I think we need to utilize our three-headed monster and pound the Seattle defense with our running game. I'd like to see 65% running plays.

With Austin having so much success, defenses aren't going to key up too much on the running game so that's where I think we need to focus. If we can get the chains moving by running the ball successfully, I think we can beat Seattle and improve to a 5-2 record.

Thoughts?

I thought the middle of Atlanta's defense did a great job taking away our running game. That is what is so great about being balanced, they focused on the run and Dallas was able to make them pay through the air.

I think we need to flexible in our offensive approach and take what the opposing defenses give us. If they key on the run, then we air it out, if they key on the run, then we beat them with the pass. I don't think we should go into any game with the percentage of runs/passes already figured out.

I want see Dallas be pretty much be balanced in their attack and execute. I don't care if Dallas runs a bit more than throw or throw a bit more than pass. I just want a good solid game in all phases from the Cowboys.

Yeah, I have a thought. If the running game isn't working but the passing game, particularly to Austin is, why should he continue to run it?

I am a huge fan of ball control and power running games, but you go with what is working. If the runs aren't there and the pass is, pass the ball. Tony Romo was connecting on 72% of his passes, did not throw a pick, and averaged over 10 yards per attempt.

It was really stupid for him to keep passing huh?

for the most part i think you do what works.

if running works against seattle, run run away.
if passing works, keep building the austin hype.

trying to force one over the other seems silly to me.

I don't care if we run or pass. Just take whatever the defense gives you.
As long as we keep winning!

Don't get me wrong; I don't think it was stupid to keep passing. I'm just arguing it's safer to run the ball to open up the pass rather than risk Romo throwing a pick. I'm Romo's biggest fan, but I also think we can have much success on the ground against Seattle. It will also serve to open up the pass. If they come into this game having studied the Atlanta tape, then I think we can successfully change it up by running. I also liked having Felix motion out to WR. If we run plays like that, I think we can confuse them as to what we're going to do because we have the ability to be so flexible. Yet I think the good 'ole running game can be the key factor to winning this game.

Of course, it all depends on what the situation calls for. I just have a feeling we need to keep somewhat of a leash on Tony and run the ball. We have a great running game, and I don't think it would be 'stupid' to go in with that as plan A and switch to plan B if need be.

The problem was, in the past , when the running game was working, or Choice was hot, we didn't stick to it or him and kept airing it out despite Romo having an off day.

I will probably jinx this, but he hasn't thrown a pick in 2 straight games. Garrett wants to run the ball every game, but if the run is not there, and the pass is, you have to pass the ball.

I think we should just do what works. If it's the running game, then stick with that. If it's the passing game, then do that. I don't think they should try to force something that's not working.

Saw a clip on NFLN last night, Romo propping up Garrett for the play calling vs ATL. Talking about how they had practiced multiple times against the formation the Falcons were in. Called the play just like they had run it in parctice, and it worked perfectly. I like a balanced offense too, but I'll take the result from Sunday. Romo sure seemed happy with Garrett.

Or when both were struggling and it was a defensive battle, Garrett got trigger happy. In those dog fights you have to keep pounding the rock in hopes of wearing the opponent out in the long run.

This.

If we were going to win either way, I'd prefer to win by running them to death. But without an iron clad guarantee of either I prefer to do what is working.

Garrett is. Time for fans to recognize it.

For the record, I'm not dissing Garrett either.

I don't think any team should go into a game in today's NFL syaing we're going to run the ball 65% of the time. That's just not winning strategy.

If the run is there and the pass isn't... fine. Then run the ball. But I wouldn't game plan for that kind of distribution.

Main thing players need to go out and execute no matter if it is run or pass. When you able to mix things up in a game it keeps defense off balance and guessing.

As other have already stated, just take what the defense gives you.Whether that means running or passing just take what is there. The biggest obstacle this team faces is "focus".Penalties at inopportune times or lack of execution will kill you even against the bottom dwellars of the league.
