I will probably jinx this, but he hasn't thrown a pick in 2 straight games. Garrett wants to run the ball every game, but if the run is not there, and the pass is, you have to pass the ball.

You know what would happen if all we did was run and go three and out each time? People would be complaining that we weren't passing enough. "Why don't we air it out?" "Throw deep!" "Open it up!"

I'm pretty sure we've already gone through this cycle once this year.

Did you happen to miss the Giants game?

We racked up over 200+ yards on the run and Romo had 3 picks.

One thing does not always lead to the other.

No, not always, but in general if you are able to run the ball, it will open up your passing game.

There are always exceptions, but for the most part a good running game is always a friend to the passing game.

Obviously I didn't mean in every instance.

I know someone would say this however, Barber is A a veteran B was a back up before JJ who was drafted higher parted via the way of FA. So draft status matters and years on the team also matter. But nice try HoS maybe next time?

Just because you don't put much stock into doesn't mean they don't. What do either back offer that Choice doesn't have ? Choice is able to offer something that neither of them can offer.

I know you cant stand Felix Jones because of your undying love for that guy the Titans have, but Felix Jones is the most talented RB on the team, and one of the most explosive players in the NFL. When he is healthy he brings a dimension to the team that none of the other RB's have, and other than Austin he is our biggest threat to take the football the distance. The guys been basically unstoppable when he is on the field.

Sorry, but the phrase "take what the defense gives you" is a cliche.

It really is not cliche.

Are you telling me that if you were the coach and had game-planned to run in a game, .. but the defense put 8 or 9 in the box each play, that you would continue to try to run??

If you did you would not be the coach for long.

If you didn't, and decided to pass some, then you changed and took what the defense was giving you.

It is simply good coaching.

Which is why we should run the ball.

Not sure if you are understanding here, but a cliche does not mean falsehood, just an overused expression to the point of banality, e.g. "on any given Sunday ....".

Synonyms: cliché, bromide, commonplace, platitude, truism (an obvious truth)

When I think of cliche, I think of a sentence or phrase, usually expressing a popular or common thought or idea, that has lost originality, ingenuity, and impact by long overuse.

I simply feel that "take what the defense gives you" is still valid and has not lost originality, ingenuity or impact even though it has been around a long time.

You don't, .. that's fine.

I'm sure that's not the only thing we disagree on.

Semantics aside, I hope we game plan with the run in mind. Sooner or later, teams figure you out so I think it would be good to dominate in the running game. That way, when teams study film on us they'll be scratching their heads saying, "hey, what the frick are we supposed to plan for?"

And we can snicker at them because they'll never know. BAHAHA!

BTW, good to see you WV. I'm sure you've missed your old buddy BnA.

LOL, yes, I am the same WV Cowboy from Austin 360, and I do remember BenInAustin, ... it has been a long time.

From that site to this one is like going from a bicycle to the space shuttle.

That's McCoy. As in the real BnA. There's only one. All others are simply imposters or your paranoid minds telling you it's me when it's not.

I'm not opposed to running the ball, far from it. We need to run well but we will win or lose on how Tony plays. In 2009, you need to be able to pass as well.

I keep hearing about Miles Austin, Roy Williams et al. But we need to control the clock against Seattle. I want to see us running the ball more. We were great in the passing game against Atlanta, and we needed to be. However, for this game I think we need to utilize our three-headed monster and pound the Seattle defense with our running game. I'd like to see 65% running plays.

With Austin having so much success, defenses aren't going to key up too much on the running game so that's where I think we need to focus. If we can get the chains moving by running the ball successfully, I think we can beat Seattle and improve to a 5-2 record.

Thoughts?

Gotta take what the defense gives you. If they stack eight, then that obviously frees up the passing game. If the Seahawks want to double someone on the outside, then that is one less guy to help tackle our RB's.

Just gotta see how the game plays out. There better be no letdowns come Sunday.

Running is fundamental in this game. But 65% running is impossible in the NFL since defense pretty much defend the run first.

DALLAS has 3 good RBs. Barber is an absolute stud. I agree about Felix Jones being extremely dangerous when he is healthy. The problem is him staying healthy. Every game it seems he slinks off to the sideline with some tweak or nick. Choice is a superb # 3 back.

Personally I think 55%-60% running plays in a game is very adequate. The defenses will begin to stack inside to stop the run and WHAM!! the big passes should connect for major yardage.

I think Seattle will provide an opportunity for the BOYS to experiment a bit.
