Julius Wood (safety) has been signed to the #Cowboys practice squad — per the NFL wire.

Wood was a Dallas UDFA in 2024, waived in final cutdowns and claimed by Titans, but the East Carolina product is back, with Malik Hooker on IR.

ex-collegiate teammate of rookie third-round pick Shavon Revel.

The Cowboys have signed safety Julius Wood back to their practice squad.

Wood was a training camp standout for Dallas in 2024 and barely missed out on making the final 53-man roster. Tennessee claimed him off waivers and he spent his rookie season there.

He was suspended six games for violating the league’s PED policy in 2024 and was recently reinstated.

A lot of people were pissed when he got claimed last year.
It's so hard to tell which players are going to progress into NFL players. They can show glimpses like Woods did and nothing ever come of it or they can do like Miles Austin did and like we hope Ryan Flournoy is going to do and outplay their pedigree.

..dont do any Edelman things, and you might get playing time.

This tells me Donovan Wilson's shoulder injury might be something to monitor. Unless they just wanted another body to replace Alijah Clark who is now on the 53.

“Junior, how many Kohl’s dollars do we have left?”

Good signing. Wouldn't be shocked to see him elevated onto the 53

Our problem is our ******* coaches never give guys a chance to prove themselves. It’s like they don’t want to risk it and be shown how dumb they were for not giving a certain guy any snaps. I finally made it a point to watch Sanborn almost exclusively on D snaps and JHC does he ever suck worse than any LB has sucked before, maybe even Barbie Carpenter.
I think that is pretty standard leaguewide. The only players really guaranteed to be given a fair shake are the early-round picks or players you trade for or target as free agents. The later-round picks and UDFAs have to earn trust and usually get few opportunities to do it.

Sanborn had already earned Eberflus's trust, which is why he brought him in.

If he lays wood on opposing players then he is good, we need more of that
