Sad sack totals so far this year

We are 10th highest in pass attempts against right now with 267. Meaning 22 team have had the less attempts. So no, not really.''

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2025/opp.htm

We are also the 4th highest in rushing attempts against, meaning what we all knew, this defense is absolutely horrible in almost (I say that kindly) every facet.
First, you cooking the goat for the liquor bar?

All elements on defense at present, are off the rail.

Not much will grow until the secondary is healed right now.

The defense still has it in hand to grow into contributory success even with arriving at middle of the pack on defense.

Check offensive and defensive ratings of the past 20 Super Bowl winners. Everything doesn't require top 5.

James Houston DE8076133.50000110
Kenny Clark NT8879161.50000000
Kenneth Murray LB883028581.00001000
Dante Fowler DE885271.00002000
Osa Odighizuwa DT88813211.00000000
Marshawn Kneeland DE6366121.00000000
Marist Liufau LB8493121.00000100
Donovan Ezeiruaku DE80116171.00000100
Shemar James LB531923421.00000100
Samuel Williams DE85133161.00001010
Jadeveon Clowney OLB5049131.00002010

Our best sackmeister is Houston. No other DE has more than 1. But not only do we not get sacks, we get very little pressure as well. It is not like we are just missing the sack, they are just not there. Our d-line has recovered 3 fumbles and made zero interceptions. According to these stats, Murray is our best tackler and we all know how good he is. NOT! Dante Fowler, who tore it up with Washington has one sack and 7 combined tackles. That is awful. Sam Williams is just a bit better but awful as well. Gee, even Clowney whos has played in only 5 games has as many sacks and more combined tackles than the other two who have played 3 more games than Clowney. Kneeland is a huge disappointment as is Liufau. So if you want to know why our defense sucks look no further than the D-line.
Fix the secondary and watch then.

When it comes to the Cowboys’ defense as a whole, Dallas is ranked 24th in sacks (15), but third in QB pressures (90). While the pressure numbers are great, the Cowboys aren’t bringing down the QB, as Sam Williams, Marshawn Kneeland, and Dante Fowler Jr. leave much to be desired.

what Clowney can do with more snaps, as he’s likely one of your best pass rushers outside of James Houston and rookie Donovan Ezeiruaku.

Hard to get sacks when receivers are running WIDE open. The second video was a 40 yard gain

Micah was also invisible against nearly every good team we faced. He dominated the bad teams though.
That context isn't allowed on here. He had regular season pff grades of 90 plus and that's that! We don't care about the game by game performance breakdowns on cowboyszone.

To be very honest here, we haven't seen what will become of that money yet.
No doubt.

At the press conference, we were assured that pile of Micah Money would “free us up to add four or five good players.”

And that was in addition to the “three or four great players” that we would get from the two Green Bay picks.

It also didn’t include Clark.

So, we’re looking at 7-9 “good to great” players to replace Micah.

How confident are you that the results will even come remotely close to his promises?

He wasn't invisible just because he didn't pile up sacks against them. He still impacted the game through pressures and taking on multiple blockers. The problem was that the rest of the D Line really sucks and couldn't take advantage of their 1:1 matchups. You're seeing how bad they are right now without him.

I just know that he got manhandled against the 49ers on both playoff games as well as when they blew us out in the regular season. He was terrible against the packers on the playoffs. Terrible against the bills when they blew us out.

He played well against the bucs in the wild card round a few years back.

It gets old hearing everyone say that he's always double teamed and someone else needs to step up. I saw countless times over the years when he was consistently blocked one on one by tight ends.

He's a hell of a player and right up there as one of the best pass rushers in the league. But he does not normally play well against the better teams in the league (at least when he was on the cowboys). That's the norm with cowboys players though. They bully the bad teams and shrink against the tough competition

The bucs game was his best game. Ironically it was against a team that was walking dead. It's no coincidence it was also Daks best playoff game as well. They both only perform against bad teams or "good teams" in turmoil. Tampa had a toxic locker room to end that season.

But everything else you said was factual. Just wanted to clear that part up.

Denver has 4 players who would be leading the Cowboys in sacks right now. There are 3 ex-Cowboys among the sack leaders in the NFL - Parsons, Armstrong and Muhammad.

The Cowboys sack stats and turnover stats are just embarrassing. There really is nothing this defense does well. You'd think Eberflus would do something to shore up at least one area. But he seems content doing nothing.

which is why pressures is an over rated stat
all those so called pressures are accomplishing nothing

Here is how this defense's first eight games compare to the other 65 seasons first eight games in Cowboys history:

Ranks last in opponent passer rating at 112.1. The 2010 season is 2nd to last at 109.1.

They are 6th to last in sacks, 6th to last in INTs, and 4th to last in takeaways.

They are 2nd worse in opponent completion percentage at 68.5%

This defense is ranked 3rd to last in opponent scoring compared to the first eight games of every other Cowboys season.

Opponents have scored more passing TDs this season than any other in Cowboys franchise history. Opponents have scored the 4th most points in the first eight games.

Opponents have made the 2nd most 1st downs in the Cowboys history.

Opponent RBs average 4.9 yards a carry, the 3rd worse in Cowboys franchise history. Opponents have scored the 4th most rushing TDs this season in Cowboys franchise history.

Furthermore, this team has the 2nd most penalties through eight games in Cowboys history.
A sobering read.

The defense has a whopping 14 sacks after 8 games. Here is a list of them all. VERY underwhelming and actually embarrassing.

Houston 3.5
Clark 1.5
Murray, James, Odighizuwa, Ezeiruaku, Williams, Clowney, Kneeland, Liufau, Fowler 1 each

There are 35 players who have more sacks than our team leader Houston.

21 of them have played 7 or less games than the Cowboys.

The Cowboys only have more sacks than 8 other teams.
Meanwhile, I think Little Michael has 5.5.

The issue here is only rushing 4.

Not. Gonna. Work.
