OXNARD, Calif. – Dallas Cowboys safety Will Allen said he was “extremely offended” by the racial slur Philadelphia Eagle wide receiver Riley Cooper was caught on video using at a Kenny Chesney concert and expects him to be targeted by opponents during games.

“You don’t want to see that, but somebody is,” Allen said Thursday. “Somebody is going to be mad and perpetuate the negativity. I don’t think that’s something we should do, but I am sure it will happen.”

The video of Cooper using the N-word surfaced on the website CrossingBroad.com on Wednesday. Cooper told reporters Wednesday he was “extremely sorry” after issuing a statement of apology.

“This is the lowest of lows,” Cooper said. “This is not the type of person I want to be portrayed as.”

The Eagles swiftly condemned the slur and Cooper said the club fined him a significant amount of money. He said he had been drinking at the concert.

“It’s sad,” Allen said. “It’s very disappointing. It’s very disappointing for anybody to have something negative said about any race. We live in a society now where we should all come together, whether gender or race. It’s just very sad and disappointing and there should be some repercussions for his actions. That’s just like somebody calling someone homosexual a negative slur. That’s not what you do, especially if you are African-American.

“…We just don’t live in a society where that should be tolerated.”

Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr also condemned Cooper’s use of the N-word.

“Words like that don’t deserve a place in our vocabulary,” Carr said.
