IRVING – The seventh-round selection of Stanford defensive lineman Ben Gardner is in keeping with the Cowboys’ tradition of drafting players with injury histories.
The 6-foot-4, 277-pound Gardner wasn’t invited to the combine after tearing a pectoral muscle last season. Recent draft picks Sean Lee, Bruce Carter and DeMarco Murray also arrived at Valley Ranch with injury red flags.
After playing defensive end at Stanford, Gardner is expected to move to tackle with the Cowboys. He was a team captain at Stanford.
