SAN ANTONIO – The Cowboys will find out Wednesday whether they will select 16th or 17th in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft in May.
The order will be determined by a coin flip with the Baltimore Ravens, who also finished 8-8 last season. The flip will be conducted at NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Dallas selected cornerback Kevin Smith 17th overall in 1992. In 1990, the Cowboys used the 17th pick to select Emmitt Smith.
Dallas has never held the No. 16 pick.
Two of the last three drafts saw defensive players go at No. 16, including defensive end Quinton Coples by the Jets in 2012 and end Ryan Kerrigan by Washington in 2011.
