ARLINGTON – Kyle Orton is back in good standing as the Cowboys’ backup quarterback.
Orton put together a putrid performance in Arizona, throwing two interceptions in the 12-7 loss to the Cardinals. He finished the game 4-of-8 for 36 yards and a 22.9 passer rating.
On Saturday night, he bounced back with a perfect showing in his only series, going 4-for-4 for 44 yards with a 7-yard touchdown pass to DeMarco Murray during a 14-play, 86-yard drive in the third quarter of Dallas’ 24-18 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I think he just played with really good poise and good understanding, and that’s how he’s always played for us,” coach Jason Garrett said. “(Orton) made a couple bad decisions for us last week and I know how it is. It eats at you. It ate at him in practice and all week long I think he was dying to get out there and play again.”
