IRVING – The Dallas Cowboys won three Super Bowls during Jerry Jones’ first seven years as owner and general manager of the team, but the last one came after the 1995 season.
The club is just 1-6 in the playoffs since 1997 and will enter this season hoping to snap an embarrassing three-year playoff drought that includes back-to-back 8-8 finishes the last two seasons.
But those facts didn’t stop, Stephen Jones from confidently saying Tuesday that, “We’re convinced we’ve got the secret sauce to put this thing back together again and win championships.”
I’d believe him if that secret sauce can turn a pedestrian offensive line into a championship-caliber unit. But, as far as I know, there is no such magic potion, so the smart money is on the Cowboys finishing out of the playoffs for yet another season.
