We'll see what happens and if he can stay healthy, but at least via both film and measurables, they already have a fairly impressive "rookie" coming in Matt Johnson.
They still must draft another safety early (and maybe even a second one later), but they are very high on Johnson.

Are you forgetting they just signed Allen? But I do hope they grab Elam in the second....o-line first.

No. I think he'll help bring the youngsters along in this scheme. For sure we'll draft one, but yes, two might be stretching it if they really like Church and Johnson as much as they say.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Johnson can do. I for one never really liked Sensabaugh, but he spent a lot of off-season time helping Church try and hone some coverage skills.

Don't have a clue how the 2013 season will turn out, but Garrett has a lot of young guys, and I can't wait to see how they do.

At a quick glance, I count 12 young players who we are not yet sure how much upside they could have (and I'm leaving out guys like Smith,Bryant,Carter, Harris...):
Claiborne
Crawford
Johnson
Hanna
Coale
Wilber
Parnell
Price
Leary
Beasley
Moore
Dunbar

The they have 6 draft picks coming in as well. They must get some more talented youth in the trenches.

They are also some of the first on the often injured list?

So you don't agree with these draft picks?

Safety is, and has been a major need on this team for years. If the opportunity presents itself in the first round to sure FS up for the next 7-8 years nobody can be mad at them for doing so.

I am all for Vaccaro in the 1st if the projected top 20 offensive and defensive linemen are gone. I would not be mad if Vaccaro is the pick as long as all the prime, grade A beef is gone. :D

I would be shocked if we go OL or S in the first 2 rounds of this draft. I just don't see it. We will go DE and DT in the first 2 rounds, imo. The only way I see us going either OL or S is if the value of the pick is just to much to pass up.

This!

Please! :)

The only way I ever draft a safety in the first is if he causes turnovers. Otherwise forget it

First if I was looking for a Safety in our new 4-3, I'd want a Cliff Harris not a Woodson, or I'd want another Roy Williams. In Kiffins defense you had better find a big hitter.

Vacarro, if you watch the film he has good range, and is not afraid to hit. Harris was a world class sprinter in college.....so speed does kill. Roy was a world class hitter, won the Jim Thorpe award and the Bronco Nagurski award as a Junior. Really what has Vacarro done?

Bill bate, too, was a hitter. But without speed he was pedestrian, despite what his legions of homers said.

Give me a hard hitter who burns up the track any day.
