People hated Byron at S bc he wasn't a turnover machine. He played at a league average level for a S which actually isn't that bad.

Nah it really was him getting trucked and giving up first downs because he couldn't get guys down before their effort took them past the 1st down marker.

Fair enough, There are 7 other safeties rated higher. I just meant even if he was the only one left at pick 58 he would still likely be an instant starter.

Jerry has not drafted 1 Miami Hurricane since Jimmie Johnson left in the 90's. Jerry holds petty grudges .

I have to laugh at the notion of a "logical" pick there. It's the 58th pick in the draft. Unless you know the 57 selections before it there is no logical pick at 58.

The Cowboys FO and "logic" don't mix well together......I expect either TE or DL at 58.

I honestly think we wont draft a safety. The drought at safety may well continue for us. Eric Berry will want too much I expect. He's just a 1 or 2 year fix, and not a real answer. Here is what we all DO know. We cannot play with Heath as a starting safety.

We have to go dline in the second. We need safety but we could get a guy on the dline who could make a huge impact in the 2nd round

He has the speed and physicality to lineup all over the field and play zone or man coverage. Need to use the Seattle’s mold for the secondary unit development.

I know nothing about Abram but what I like about Thornhill is that h e can prolly play any position in a defensive backfield. He started two years at corner before moving to S as a fourth-year. Considering his ball skills and speed I think he'd be a great FS in the pros, but he's a fantastic tackler and I think his best position may be slot corner. He can be whatever we need him to though, safe pick at #58.

Thornhill definitely checks all the athletic boxes that McClay seems to prioritize.

He's not just a workout warrior. He's a heck of an instinctive football player too and has the productivity numbers to prove it. Just watch how he moves, covers and hits. Funny thing though is that he wasn't the best DB on that squad.

I'm a fan. A scouting friend turned me onto him two years ago and then predicted great things for him when they moved him to safety last year.

How are you liking Bryce Perkins?

That would be nice, but Dallas has drafted one DT in the last 10 years above round 7, that was Collins in 2016, and even he was a third rounder.

Seriously doubt we'll see a DT at no. 58, probably DE.

But Dallas could use a DT, S, OT and a slot receiver. Unfortunately, can't get all those in one draft, at least good ones..

Perkins was always a great runner but his ability as a passer has really impressed me. They run some of the old single-wing spin action and Bryce is a wizard with the ball. Fun having the fastest guy on the team at QB. I think I can say he's single-handedly made my Wahoos a serious bowl team (baby steps), which is what good QBs do I guess, but he just injects juice into the whole team.
