If Cowboys are serious about Adrian Peterson, then trade Demarco Murray (after franchising) and a future pick for AD and Harrison Smith. Smith is an underrated centerfielder - ballhwak and headhunter since his ND days.

obviously you have zero clue how the salary works.

Wilcox was bad beyond words yesterday. Just standing there while guys ran by him. The usual turning in the wrong direction. Appears to lack the instincts for the position.

There just aren't a lot of blue chip safeties coming out anymore. The last one was Mark Barron and he is already on his second team.

When did mark Barron leave the buccaneers? I was not aware of that.

Draft a DE in the first round and a safety in the 2nd round.

Wilcox... SMH.

At some point you want to see some improvement out of the kid, but his last 3 games vs. Washington, Detroit and GB were car wrecks.

He had 1138 snaps this season and he was making the same mistakes to end the season as he was at the beginning of the season.

I'd say he was the 2nd worst defensive starter on the team.

Our safeties are both under performers. Only the futility of the position makes fans think Church is okay or that Wilcox is going to be okay.

1. Neither is worth a damn in coverage
2. Neither is a ball hawk and will only get the ocassional int gift in their laps
3. Both miss tackles, but Church has better technique...Wilcox is out of control and a disaster waiting to happen.
4. Ideally, both are replaced, but we are really desperate for a FS type...not a ball-hawking super star, but even a Ray Horton or James Washington would look like a star compared to these two.

When was the last time (or ever) that you saw Church or Wilcox roll into coverage by a CB and slap a pass away at its highest point, not intercept the pass by making a play on the pass, just run to a pass and slap it away? That's pretty sad considering how often our defense is in 2-deep zone in passing situations.

Most important player on defense is the safety position. We haven't had a good one for over ten years.

Bc I saw a lot of growth this season compared to last year, and realize he is only two seasons into his career.

Agree, Wilcox got better. Is it good enough to be a permanent starter? I don't know. He shows flashes of excellent play then total disarray the next. I don't want to pass final judgement on the kid until I see a competent line.

Wilcox is aggressive, accelerates into tackles, and could be a solid strong safety. Barry Church is great around the line of scrimmage but is a liability in coverage. Even the last INT people want to celebrate was due to Church being so far away from the play that the ball was tipped into his arms about 7 yards away.

Two things need to happen for us to improve the safety play. Get a true free safety and improve the pass rush. Easier said than done I know but the team can't keep ignoring the problem.

Ideally, the team adds a free safety and then lets Wilcox and Church battle it out for the strong safety job with the loser playing in dime packages and/or nickel linebacker. Jeff Heath should never be playing in crucial playoff downs.

A problem I've had for years, as some know.

Church and JJ are SSs, and average ones at that spot. We desperately need safeties, and I really don't care if we cut both of them.

Get some playmakers back there not tomorrow, yesterday.
