Sean Payton apparently knows how to protect the QB

What gives... isn't he using a reject or 2 from our line

drew brees can get rid of the ball faster

yeah, 3rd down towards the end of the game, the eagles blitzed 2 through a hole in the left side (just like they did to the Boys a couple times) the rb could only take 1, Brees immediately released to the hot receiver which was in the slot right where the blitzers were coming from, hit the wr right at the first down marker. The pass rusher got there fast, but Brees made such a quick recognition and relase that the eagles payed for blitzing brees.

I have no doubt that Brees has a faster release, etc. But also they knew how to pick up blitzes; something our Line was unable to do last week.

And why many here continue you to stick up for the statue while we watch other QB's in this league make plays we can't...I will never know.

There is a reason Brees is making his oline look good :bang2:

Recognition
Athletic ability (oh yeah...Bledsoe can run for hours and hours...run forest run)
Quick release
etc........................................................

Here's a little something else that didn't hurt the now 5-1 Saints ...

Deuce McCalister, Reggie Bush and Joe Horn (special mention to Drew Brees).

Our oline played poorly no doubt...but we are not capable of making them pay for blitzing either. Therefore they keep bringing it.

Brees is capable of making them pay...

Watched the game and I am telling you that Brees was unfazed by the eagles pass rush. That rush is the same as with our O Line, they blitzed right through an open hole, 1 of them was untouched but Brees made the play without any hesitation.

Dont remember now if he was in shotgun, but he did not need to survey the field, as soon as the rusher came past the linemen, he released the ball....and the receiver was tackled right as he caught it so its not like the wr was sitting alone in the middle of the field. It was a tight throw but it was spot on, Brees knew where the hot read was and he threw it without hesitation counting on the receiver to run to the spot and make the play.

McCalister was great in that game. Sometimes you watch a player will his team toward a victory. McCalister was getting 1 or 2 extra yards every time after he was hit, dragging tacklers forward. He should get a game ball.

Brees was also very good. Bush did a few things here and there but nothing too special. Brees played smart football and Mccalister carried that team yesterday.

Ummmmm. Road game

Home game.

let down for the eagles. and they came back. it wasnt like the saints dominated.

we could have tied our game last week just as easily. how quickly people forget.

But we didn't...that's the difference between Brees and Bledsoe...look at the last drive for each team.

We were flat out lucky to even have the ball on the six...4th and 20 soemthing and a prayer to Glenn for pass interference.

We were lucky to be in a situation to win...then of course we give it to Drew to make it happen...the rest is history just like the rest of his career.

If TO had caught the dropped passes, you'd be saying the same thing about Bledsoe.

Of course, all Drew's fault. Forget that the receiver ran the wrong route.

I'm talking last drive of the game...not the debacle INT with Drew and Owens much earlier.

And Drew Brees cost the Saints what?

Nothing but a little bit of money for a very smart, sufficiently athletic, and young QB.

brees is very good at moving around and making plays. if we had brees on the bench i bet we would bench bledsoe. by the way we don't have brees setting on our bench

Yeah.

I guess he was seen as a gamble, wasn't he? Weren't there lots of concerns about his injury/surgery? Clearly he's doing great, though, so the concerns were apparently overstated and/or Brees and the Saints just got lucky. Didn't Miami pass on Brees too? (In favor of Culpepper - ouch!).

As far as the Eagles not sacking Brees ... He's got a good release, some mobility (relative to the Cowboys' more stationary QB), and the Saints do a good job of spreading the field from sideline to sideline.

Defenses have to do more than apply pressure to the spot of the field that's located several yards behind where the center snaps the ball.
