How did you come to this conclusion?

Wasn't hard. Collins made a TON of mistakes last year. His pass protection was well below average.

Leary is steady Eddy in comparison.

Collins is the better player long term, but he's got a ways to go. Leary is better right now, and he's proving it in camp. Again.

I would take a 3rd round pick for Leary. That's bound to help make up for the 2ND rd pick we will inevitably blow next year.

Why? You probably get a compensatory 4th for him anyway when he leaves.

Besides, nobody is giving you a 3rd rounder for him. Teams LOVE their draft picks because they play cheap and they have lots of tire tread.

if you want to make the point that 2014 Leary was better than 2015 Collins, sure I guess you could. I'd argue that given the amount of leads we played with in 2014 vs 2015 was the biggest factor, as well as the down and distances we faced in 2014 vs 2015 since we got nothing from the QB position. However, I'd disagree that 2015 Leary was better than 2015 Collins. Some of it may have been the injury, but I think he was a bit disgruntled last year and was not as focused on himself as he seems to be this year and I do not think he was better, in fact the success we had in 2014 is the only reason they stuck with him as long as they did.

Which is a 5th in 2018 and that is if we sign less than we lose

this logic is flawed, we don't have tons of free agents that teams will be interested in next year, so if we sign a few guys, we could easily get nothing for him.

What are the odds that Collins, Frederick, and Martin are healthy the entire season? Leary is incredibly valuable this year. He'll probably play a ton.

I only trade him if he can help address weaknesses elsewhere right now. Not interested in a 3rd round pick for the post-Romo era.

Has Frederick or Martin missed a game in their careers yet? Collins missed the last game of the season, but I would say Leary isn't likely to play a ton. And even if he does, it may not even mean much if we aren't in the playoff hunt at that point.

I only trade him if he can help address weaknesses elsewhere right now. Not interested in a 3rd round pick for the post-Romo era.

Ideally, we'd get someone else's third DE, third CB or back up QB who is disgruntled, but is an average starter like Leary is, but I'm not sure if that package is out there. What I can tell you is we'll get more mileage out of a third round pick from 2017 to 2020 then we will out of Leary, who likely will not entertain the idea of resigning.

Because a third is better than a fourth. And I never said a team would offer that. Just if that one did, we did take it. My response was related to someone wanting a 2nd.

Truth be known, Leary is a better player right now than La'el Collins.
if they want the best five linemen on the field, Collins needs to be playing at right tackle. I don't know why they refuse to play him there.

So you're saying and believing that Leary will get better or stay the same and Collins will continue to make mistakes and be a rookie?

there's no guarantee that the 5 best o-linemen creates the best o-line.

And Landry, and Beckham, and Honey Badger, Whitworth, Brockers, Williams...

Landry, the safety? Has he exploded yet?

Don't know who the last three are.

Is Badge a star?

Beckham's a punk.

Maybe I was too bias because of the stiffs we've collected out of LSU: Claiborne Peterman and Spears.

David Le Fluer(way back LSU bum)

Jarvis Landry, Andrew Whitworth, Kyle Williams.

Honey Badger is 100% a star. Career All-Pro safety in the NFL, just as I predicted. He's amazing.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Saints have pursued a trade for Cowboys G Ronald Leary for the past few months.

The Cowboys are clearly in the market for a backup quarterback and some have said that Leary could be used as a trade chip to net them a quarterback. However, Rapoport doesn’t specifically say the Saints would make one of their backup quarterbacks available in a trade for Leary.

Leary elected to skip the Cowboys’ voluntary OTAs in the hope of facilitating a trade. However, the Cowboys made it clear that they weren’t giving him away and Leary later attended the team’s mandatory three-day minicamp.

It's not gonna happen. Asking price too high for what other teams will give up for (possible) one year rental.
