Since the 2004 season, the defending Super Bowl champion has hosted the NFL’s showcased Kickoff game. That tradition will continue in 2010 as Drew Brees and the Saints will play host in the game scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 9.

The actual opponent won’t be known until the league releases its schedule in April, although eight teams on the Saints’ home schedule are in contention: Atlanta, Carolina, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, Seattle, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Minnesota.

No matter the opponent, odds are in the Saints’ favor of winning the game. Since 2002 (when the Kickoff game was introduced), the host team is 7-1 and the defending Super Bowl champion is a 6-0.

Looks like it will either be Minny or Pittsburgh.

Doubt its Minny. At least not without Brett.

Could be ATL.

Or maybe the league will rip us all off of a good opener and schedule the Browns or Rams because they know people will watch no matter what.

Yeah, we all know Favre will wait until August 30 to make his decision so the safe bet may be the Falcons.

I would think it would be Minn since that was the NFC Championship game.
