Sam Bradford can take us to the next level

Wouldn't it be cheaper for Dallas to just draft a QB of the future in the next draft or 3? If STL is giving up on Bradford, they are probably taking the same approach.

Most QBs don't really start to decline until 37, well most good QBs anyway so i'd see no less than 4 years of Tony before they would do anything. As far as Bradford, Great QB but won't be coming here. Orton is either 29 or 30(can't remember) and we'll be getting a QB from the draft which makes sense financially if nothing else.

we signed romo to be the guy for two years of effectiveness in essence. I don't think he's going to be effective as a starter after that simply because of his age. he'll be beaten up at that point. he'll have to be replaced but not off the team. so, i'm sugguesting at that time we will be a top level team that needs a top level quarterback that's in his prime. sam Bradford would be that guy with tony romo as a great mentor / back-up.

Romo got $55 million guaranteed, that is not a 2 yr contract. You are looking at 4 years minimuim before you can do anything with Romo and asking him to be a backup with an average base salary of $17-$20 million a season is just laughable.

So Romo cant be a backup and we financially cant replace Romo until year 4 of the deal without taking a massive salary cap hit that would require releasing multiple starters.

I am not calling you out here are making fun of you in any way, I am seriously explaining the situation to you that there is no way possible for this team to get another starting QB (from anywhere) for the next 4 seasons. We have hitched our wagon to Romo and we will go as far as he takes us in the next 4 seasons.

That's just the honest truth.

I'm convinced we can win a super bowl with tony romo even this year. everything has to fall into place starting with the running game and health. but assuming we don't, we have to start building for next year and after to win a title the following two years. after the o-line and d-line are improved, you have to get the next quarterback to take us to the next level. who? sam Bradford. I think he's the kind of player that management could get some how. to come in, with his arm and at that time several years of experience in the league, pr positives being from this part of the country, Heisman. tony romo would go to the sidelines in all probability at that point but could be a great mentor and back up for a dynamite team. my take is we would have to have a top flight qb to keep us to a high level and win a title. sam Bradford would be that guy at that time frame.
go cowboys from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I quit reading when you said we could win a Super Bowl with Romo.

Bradford is nothing more than an above average QB, not impressed with him at all.

35 isn't that old, especially for a QB who started playing in his late 20s.. Rich Gannon won an MVP at 36, Tom Brady is currently 35, drew Brees will be 35 this year. Chill out!

Romo just turned 33. After this season and next he will be 34.

Payton Manning last year coming off back injury was 36. Did he fall off big time because he was 36?

i'm a romo fan and have been in those defend the guy discussions and become pretty irritated at the national commentary that's highly critical. we all know he can get the job done and in a big way. time will tell if he can continue a high level of play like some of these qb's mentioned in their mid thirties.

until then I get to laugh at some of the other comments made...

go cowboys from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

first of all I'm 52 and have been a cowboy fan since I was 10. all cowboys, nothing but... so yes I am totally serious about my assesment. in 2015 tony romo will be 35. like I said, I don't think 'at that time' (not this year or next year) we will be a competing, top level team that will need a qb 'in his prime'...I am of the opinion that at 35 he will be too old or beat up to take us to a title. still talented, just 35. again, I think he would make a great mentor and backup for a younger qb in his prime like sam Bradford. jim McMahan was just that for multiple qb's including the 1995 packers and brett favre.

You are talking about tying up $220 million in a starting and backup QB.

Will never happen.
