I disagree. He has nothing to lose, but he has nothing to gain it either. Players generally don't confess like Shields did. Brady will never say the Tuck was a fumble. Deion will never agree that he committed pass interference against Irvin. Brett Favre will likely never confess that he took a nose dive so Strahan could get the sack record.
I can't recall a player ever confessing that a call that helped him and his team was a bad call. That's why I believe his sincerity.
Yes, this is what gives it credence. Nobody would have admitted this while they where still in the mix, it wouldn't be fair to one's teammates.
