I disagree. He has nothing to lose, but he has nothing to gain it either. Players generally don't confess like Shields did. Brady will never say the Tuck was a fumble. Deion will never agree that he committed pass interference against Irvin. Brett Favre will likely never confess that he took a nose dive so Strahan could get the sack record.

I can't recall a player ever confessing that a call that helped him and his team was a bad call. That's why I believe his sincerity.

Yes, this is what gives it credence. Nobody would have admitted this while they where still in the mix, it wouldn't be fair to one's teammates.

Been through this with this person. He will not address it. I literally asked him around 10 times. He just goes off on some meaningless tangent about how he umpires small children.

BTW - he DID go to the ground and the rule explicitly states "with or without contact." If you want to say the contact sent him to the ground, you are dooming yourself since the contact occurred before the 2nd step making the fall a clear case of going to the ground during the process of making the catch.
