I don't know.

At the very least, those Chiefs teams were dominant in the regular season and notched a couple playoff victories with Montana at the helm.

that's why I said poor man's;)

but we're a good team that ultimately blows it in the end, unfortunately our end always seems to be December

I really do thing we had a good thing with the "Parcells' type" coach. Not Parcells himself who is washed up, but a young Parcells "if that's out there", but then Jerry has GOT TO LET HIM HIRE HIS OWN GUYS, RUN THINGS HIS WAY.

Really?

Jerry Jones is the top man in the Cowboys organization and involves himself in its every aspect. How is he not to blame for this? He has the final say in everything. He's seen to that. Ergo, he assumes the onus of blame for 12 years of mediocrity.

Exactly.. Jerry is concerned with one thing... Money. No accountability. Im telling you this team will not win another SB with Jerry as GM. Bill Parcells built the core of this current team.. Romo, Witten, Ware, Tnew, MB3 etc. Jimmy Johnson built the SB winning teams in the 90s. Jerry is not a good GM. He has to involve himself into every little affair like he is the head coach. He loves controversy and lime light brought to this team. When really its just a distraction.

For all of Jerry's shortcomings, there was a time when I honestly believed that winning was his foremost pursuit and that all of his mistakes and miscues were, at the very least, born out of desire to win at the highest possible level.

Now, I'm beginning to doubt that belief. I'm starting to wonder if Jerry is truly content with simply being at the center of a media storm.

Jerry wants to win, but it's because he's selfish

he wants to win, and he wants the credit, that's why he clashed with Jimmy Johnson

Hmmm.

You may be onto something here. Jerry wants to win but only if it occurs his way.

For over a decade now, Cowboys fans have been watching the same movie of the month in December. And no matter how many times the actors change, the movie always ends the same.

In the coming weeks, days, and hours, we’ll see a myriad of blame directed at Wade Phillips for his undisciplined team, Jason Garret for his bland and predictable offense, Tony Romo for his consistently poor play in December, Terrell Owens for his selfishness, and Jason for squealing to the media. Unquestionably, all the blame thrown at this cast of character will be warranted and justified.

However, I fear that, in the onslaught of criticism and indignant calls for resignations and cuts, we’ll miss the larger issue here: These coaches and players are just actors, acting out the script handed them by their Director. Perhaps they could do a little more with their roles, but as we’ve seen over the past decade, changing the actors—even the lead role—has not changed the ending of the movie.

Hamlet still dies.

If the dreadful ending of this tired and overdone movie is ever going to change, we need a new Director capable of writing a different ending. You may be asking, who is this director? I’ll give you a hint: He’s been the one constant on this team over the 12 years since this movie first aired.

We can fire Wade and Jason. We can cut Romo and TO. We can bench Witten. But if recent history has shown us anything, these changes will do absolutely nothing. The Cowboys' problems are systemic--the inevitable ending of a script that is replayed over and over again--and they start at the top.

Mr. Director, I have one request of you. If you truly love this franchise, please sell it.

Sell it so it can become that which it truly is--a football team, not a medium for satiating your own personal need for drama.
"December Fail" starring Tony Romo as Tony Romo ?

Tony Romo as QB scapegoat.

Romo was precede in this role by Drew Bledsoe, who was preceded by Vinny Testeverde, who was preceded by Quincy Carter, who was preceded by Chad Hutchinson, who was preceded by Quincy Carter, and so on and so forth.

I believe that Jerry hired Parcells for two things that go hand in hand.

1. To excite the fanbase in the metroplex and get that stadium vote pushed thru.

2. To build a team with some talent and get some marketable players and players who command media attention (T.O.) to market this franchise in all sorts of ways to rake in hundreds of millions of dollars to help pay for that new stadium that will someday make him hundreds of billions of dollars, they hope. I think he wants them to win just enough to stay in the limelight. And hype up the team every time a season starts to get fans hopes up and thus they buy tickets and Cowboys crap galore!

Ding-ding, we have a winna...IMO, Jerry has been trying to get revenge on Jimmy and other guys that snubbed him at the Super Bowl toast following our 2nd Super Bowl in 93' as well as showing the whole world that he's a "football guy".

Jerry wants to be coach, he just doesn't have the balls to go down on the field and do it.

I said it after he hired Switzer and I still say it today, DO IT, JERRY!! Coach the damn team, it's only then that you may finally realize the value of what a good coach can bring to a team and who knows, if your successful, we no longer have to keep changing coaches.....
