61 FREAKIN' SACKS! We had 34.

We all (myself included) gripe about our lack of pressure on the QB but I think we can put those fears to rest. Or D is gonna ROCK!

I totally agree. Most of us sat here last year complaining that we're not aggressive enough. That we don't put enough pressure on the QB.Well Phillips defense brings pressure from all over the place.Last year we had only one guy rushing alot of the time, and our best pass rusher in pass coverage alot.It is now time to start killing quarterbacks.

I am psyched for this hire!

Now, something in Dallas will be feared. When you play the Cowboys, you actually have to account for their defenders.

Now we should see Roy Williams and Newman truly shine. With the type of pressure he's gonna bring, we should see interceptions out the rear end.

The system Wade puts out there puts alot more pressure on those guys to play well in coverage. Maybe for less time, but they've got to be good on tight routes. I'm not sure which way it will go on the secondary. Bill wouldn't put them out there on an island too much - he protected them. Wade won't.

We don't quite have the horses up front - of course, noone but SD has a Jamal Williams, and that can make all the difference - but we'll definitely see a surge in sacks, just based on the amount of time we'll spend blitzing. Anyone who was whining about how little pressure we got last year should be ecstatic - because with Phillips, we'll get it or die trying. We wouldn't have gotten that with Norv and Rivera.

I'm thinking Wade goes after a huge NT, just a thought.

We've got a darn good NT right now in Ferguson; don't understand why so few people appreciate him. What we don't have is a quality backup who can occasionally spell him. Will be interesting to see what Phillips makes of Stanley and Ratliff, the latter I really like and who knows how to get to the QB.

I'm just hoping and praying for more push up the middle, I could care less who gets the push, we just need that push. And ferguson was great at stoping the run, but their was rarely any pass rush push up the middle.

We do need a backup, and Ferguson is a nice player, very solid.

But nobody is Jamal Williams. He is unreal.

And Rivera's Bears had 40. In the weaker conference, with an easy scedule.

I think Jerry made the right hire, which is a little surprising because it definitely was not the sexy hire.

Mr. Ware isn't the problem. He's one of the NFL's best pass rushers. The reason the Chargers had 61 sacks in they had two guys who could rush from the outside (Which Dallas currently doesn't have), good pass rushing ends in the 3-4 (Which Parcells admitted publically Dallas currently doesn't have) and good blitzing inside linebackers (Which Dallas may or may not have). I agree that Phillips is a good defensive coach and that in turn should result in more sacks. However, if you're comparing the Cowboys front seven to the Chargers at the present time, you're living in a fantasy world. A big reason why San Diego had 61 sacks is because of the talent on the field. Unfortunately, Phillips can't bring that talent with him to Dallas.

Let be careful with proclamations. I heard we will win a SB with Parcells, I heard el dorado was gunna take us to a superbowl. Now I hear the Ds gunna rock? we will see. It should, but strange things happen and I am almost thinking we are snake bit.

Not sold on Phillips, but I could learn to like it if he delivers.

If Phillips is another Campo, I think Jones has lost all credibility with me and all those SB trophies no longer cover his but. Since jimmys left, we have been average to poor as a team.

I hope Phillips is the answer the D does get rocking and the O still has the flair and passion to win games. I am just not sure what I think at the moment. I am so tired of retreads failing. Jones had the chance to be a maverick and take a chance on a younger guy that could have been here for 10 years with succsess. But we have another 2-3 year coach and another search for a coach in a few years if we suck, as Garrett will get thrown to the curb as part of the trash that was Phillips staff, if we fail. Rivera will be gone, Cowher and Fisher were never coming here this year or next year as Jones wont relinquish control of the team to anyone.

I fear for my boys right now, Not sure this is the best move, but we will see. Kicking el dorado opff the team immediately would be a good start for my Phillips. We will watch and see how the FA and draft goes and how training camp and mini camps go. We should have a better idea again in july what we are gunna be doing. Till then, its all guess work and 'what I want' by us fans.

Terrible argument. The two teams run totally different defensive schemes. The Bears rarely blitz and that system comes from Lovie Smith. There is some kind of misinformation going on around here that Rivera is married to this Cover 2 scheme. He played under Buddy Ryan and I was told if he got the job, he was going to bring Singletary in as DC and they would install a defense like the one run in Baltimore and San Francisco. In other words, a lot of pressure from a lot of different places. If you didn't want Rivera, that's fine but people need to stop with this Cover 2 stuff. He runs that because Lovie Smith wants him to. I guarantee that when Rivera gets a head coaching job, he installs a more aggressive defense.

The reason he didn't get the job is because he's not from Texas and Bum Phillips and Jerry Jones are old drinking buddies. At least now everyone from Texas has a good ole boy they can cheer for. Well, at least for two years until he's fired and replaced by Garrett who may or may not be a good coach. I'm going to say he won't be because every feeling Jones has is wrong. He should try and do the oppostite of everything he thinks like George Costanza on Seinfeld. Hell, if had done that for the last 10 years, the Cowboys probably would have won three more Super Bowls, instead of making four playoff appearaces, all which were losses by the way. Keep it going Jerrah (or however you spell it), you're doing one hell of a job with America's Team.
