That doesn't shock me, pretty sure he is done after this year along with spencer. 2014 draft all Dline. Also who might be a FA?

That translates into we re-sign Spencer, Ratliff, and I'll throw in Austin, and we draft a TE, 3 DB's, a WR, and trade our 3rd round pick for next years 5th and 6th.

I really hope they don't move up...not worth it.

they may not have to move up

And just shows how much Josh Brent's stupidity has killed this team. He was supposed to be the rock in the middle and Ratliff would have been long gone. Instead you get what we see now on this DL

What did you (or anybody else for matter) see to get excited about Brent? Im serious in asking maybe there's some games I didnt notice him but he never stood out as a force in the middle, just a big body.

This is quickly looking like a 7-9 team...

Yea, I really dont see us making much noise with this horrid defense. If you cant win a game at home when your offense puts up almost 50 points....................well, you are not going to be going anywhere. And this is not a 1 game deal either, we have allowed 4 of the 5 QBs we played to go over 400 yards.

This is historically bad pass defense.....................we will probably set the franchise record this year for most passing yards given up in a season......................just sad.

I digress.....................7 and 9 is where this thing is heading, maybe 8-8 if we are lucky.......................now that might win the division this year, so all hope is not lost.................LOL

Draft DT in first round. Possibly move up into top of draft .
if we are moving to the top of the draft....I want Clowney . Clowney and Ware would be a nice combo

According to the post game show, per Jerry, Ratiliffe will probably not be back when he's suppose to come off of PUP and probably out for season.

Just curious, but did anyone else hear this to confirm it?

If it's true, I don't have much hope in this DL improving....

I don't think either one of them really wanted to come back anyway.
Seeing how this team balled yesterday and the fact that increased pressure up the middle is what they are lacking, how can you not want to come back if you are Rat?

I hope that he either comes back this year or is really hurt enough that he can't
Anything else would be inexcusable from Rat

ratliff and miles austin could be gone forever and I would be happy. I hope neither one ever wears a cowboys uniform again. Talk about 2 guys that are stealing money.

It wasn't stolen. It was given to them. Pre-mature, knee jerk owner reaction. We've seen it before. He looked great in the shower.

So has there been any follow up to this supposed comment? Usually when Jerry makes a comment about a player being out, it's jumped on pretty quickly. (i.e. Spencer)

Yeah I've been checking this post because it seems fishy... The last report we had is that his rehab was going well. If Jerry said this, there would be a media storm. I'm calling shenanigans

good grief fans can be stupid, short-sighted people.

Ratliff earned the money he is being paid now for his past play.
He was a 4 time pro bowler and 1 time All Pro.
He made the rookie minimum on his first contract
His next contract was for HALF of what Chris Canty got paid in NY.

His 3rd and final contract was rich and he hasn't come close to making it a value but his career has been a plus and his career earnings at best a slight value for his level of play. He will make ~25m for entire career.

I do think he is done here. Too beat up and too expensive now to be worthwhile. He'll get cut next year and he'll never see 30m of that 48m deal.

Ratliff and Witten have been the best values the Cowboys have had the past decade when you combine all factors (draft status/salary/performance).

IF Ratliff can come back this year and help this team that is a VERY nice bonus. We don't need Ratliff to win the NFCE but he would be most useful in the playoffs at even 75% of his peak.
