I speculate that Ratliffs injury was mishnandled by the Cowboys doctors...and the Cowboy organization, understandly so,...wanted a return on their investment and rushed him back on the field. Probably concealing the true nature of his medical condition. And once Ratliff found this out....he is livid and has dug in his heels. This is PURELY my speculation

this sounds legit.

I am surprised the mods have not taken this thread down -- without any source this is pure rumor.

I can't find any reports that confirm it. I even listened to the video of Jerry after the game.

You do not pay players for future performance because you do not know what the future performance will be.
You pay them for what they have accomplished up til now.
You HOPE you are paying for future performance but it NEVER works that way.

Since no one has a crystal ball you are paying for the past.
The NFL rookie caps and salary structure dictate this.

When a player is a free agent they are ranked based on the past.
Sure teams can guess as to what they'll do in a certain scheme or in a few years but all it is, is a guess.
Injuries and a zillion other factors come into play.
But the player's market and the price you must pay are determined by his PAST play.

I agree with what it is you are saying here but I don't agree that we don't pay players for future performance. I think that if you look at both Romo's and Austin's contracts, that's exactly what we did. JMO

Yea, seems really strange. I remember seeing this thread pop up last night and I was sure I'd see it in the media today.....yet not a word?

And certainly they'd be all over it. Haven't even seen mention of it on any blog or news site. Is this thread bogus?

Mickey was on the radio today and said they still expect Ratliff to come back; however, he said he expects it to be week 8 or 9 because he wiil need to practice for 2 or 3 weeks before playing a game.

It appears that the OP just made up the story.

Yea, I really dont see us making much noise with this horrid defense. If you cant win a game at home when your offense puts up almost 50 points....................well, you are not going to be going anywhere. And this is not a 1 game deal either, we have allowed 4 of the 5 QBs we played to go over 400 yards.

This is historically bad pass defense.....................we will probably set the franchise record this year for most passing yards given up in a season......................just sad.

I digress.....................7 and 9 is where this thing is heading, maybe 8-8 if we are lucky.......................now that might win the division this year, so all hope is not lost.................LOL

yeah, I see 8-8 but very possibly 6-10 if this defense doesn't get better fast. Brees, Stafford, Rogers, and Cutler will shred this defense the way it is now and the division games are always tough. There is no guarantee we will split or even win ANY more division games. To expect Romo to perform to this weeks level game after game is just ridiculous. If we don't have a massive upgrade in our pass rush and defense I predict we will draft in the top 5.

A bit off-topic, but just a thought: Given the situation with Ratliff, I am thrilled the Travis Frederick pick worked out. Otherwise, the Shariff Floyd talk would be deafening right now. And the fact the Cowboys also get Terrance Williams by passing on Floyd and trading down makes it even better; since Williams appears to be Austin's heir.

No, it was on the post game show on the Fan 105.3. I didn't make it up. The hosts clearly said the talking to Jerry, it doesn't look like Ratliffe will be back when he's eligible, and probably won't be back at all. I'm sorry you can't link a live radio show, but I don't go around making up stories.

Then the radio host lied or you misheard. There is no way a quote by Jerry about Ratliff not playing this year wouldn't be huge news by now.
