...forget everything that happened in the first half, The Steeler LBer was OFF-SIDES on the play where HOLDING was called on Seattle and Seattle had completed the pass down to the one yard line and could have taken the lead. Add to that, Madden even said there was no holding on the play, that you have to let the OL "engage" the pass rusher. Well the reason he got his arm around the LBer, if he did, was because the Steeler LBer was off-sides on the play!

After that it was almost comical how bad the officiating was. The call of blocking below the waist on Hasselback's tackle, allowing Rothlisberger to call a timeout when the play clock had clearly reached zero, thus allowing the steelers to keep that last drive going.

Geez!!

1. the PI on Jackson that was not
2. the spot on Strong's catch in the 2nd quarter on 3rd down that was short by 3 inches
3. the Roeth. td
4. the holding call on the completion to stevens to the 1.
5. when roeth. ran for the 1st down when pitt was trying to melt the clock, you could see the ref peaking at the first down marker while spotting the ball.

unbelievable!!!

something had to be going on.

You forgot the playclock expiring before Rothlisberger called timeout on their last drive that allowed them to keep that drive going. Clear :00 on the playclock and then Rothlisberger turned around and signaled timeout and the ref gave it to him.

I think the NFL REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted the Bus to win one before he retired. It makes a good PR story. A boy wins the big one in his home town before he retires...blah blah.blah..

I'm still sick about this. Anyone who says it's weak to blame the officials simply has not watched enough football. I feel bad for Seattle. Whenever they made something happen the refs took it away unjustly.

Wrong. The Steeler LB timed the snap count perfectly and got started just as the ball was being snapped. He was not offsides.

It wasn't holding either. Either way, the Seahawks got screwed on the play.

The offensive PI call was BOGUS.

Holding on the Engram catch? Ridiculous.

The hold on that play was no worse than the hold Ward got away with on the Steeler first down late in the 4th.

That wasn't an egregious call. In real time, it looked like he got his arm around the Steeler defender's neck.

And the Offensive Pass Interference on Darrell Jackson was the correct call. You can't extend your arm away from the defender, that's pass interference. It may have been a questionable push, in terms of how much force he used. But the ref saw it and threw the flag. It was technically the right call.

None of the calls, with the exception of the Hasselback illegal block (and even that wouldn't have negated the interception) were as egregiously awful as that overturned Palomalu INT in the Colts game.

What did the Seahawks in was that they didn't have a running game to go with their passing game. And D. Jackson didn't pay attention on several plays where he had the Steeler defender beat.

That and Jeremy "Mister Softy" Stevens dropping pass after pass.

The Hawks panicked. How do you have the league's MVP and you don't ride him to settle your team down, to take time off the clock and to wear the Steelers' defense down, especially when you have one of the best offensive lines in the league?

No wonder Seattle will let Shaun Alexander walk after the season.

If Jackson's was a push off, then there should never be a single play where offensive pass interference is not called as that happens ALL THE TIME.

Every time Seattlegot something going it was taken away by the refs. And the refs were seeing stuff that didn't happen, like the bpgus holding penalty that called back a red zone completion, like Rothlesberger DID NOT cross the goal line!!!

Like the offensive interference penalty in the end zone!!!

This game was BOGUS!!! The REFS aught to be FIRED!!!

Is the NFL now fixed? Was the fix in on the refs???

You couldn't have put that any better, half of Jerry Rice's and Michael Irvin's catches would have been taken away if that's the case with pushing off. The refs had a horrible Superbowl and that goes for the entire playoffs as well.

Yes, pushoffs do happen. In fact, the technique is taught to receivers. Also waht they will teach you is not to extend your arm. Jackson clearly extended his arm right in front of the official.

Is it to much to ask to have world class refs. The speed of the game is so fast. The NFL has a bunch of part time guys who mostly are old and out of shape. With the money this leauge makes lets hire some refs whos only focus is football. They should train and be in top condition. The fact is they blew some calls today. The NFL should do everything possible to correct that. Would Seattle have won? Who knows, but that is the problem, we will never know and it does not have to be that way.
