Let's say we win the coin toss and we pick 16th. Imagine a run on QBs and OTs results in the following…

01. Houston - Teddy Bridgewater, QB (heavy QB need)
02. St Louis - Jake Matthews, OT (they already have Robert Quinn)
03. Jacksonville - Brett Hundley, QB (heavy QB need)
04. Cleveland - Anthony Barr, OLB/DE (safer DE; drafted Mingo last year; might go QB)
05. Oakland - Johnny Manziel, QB (heavy QB need)
06. Atlanta - Greg Robinson, OT
07. Tampa Bay - Sammy Watkins, WR
08. Minnesota - Derek Carr, QB (heavy QB need)
09. Buffalo - Cyrus Kouandijo, OT (they already have Mario Williams)
10. Detroit - Darqueze Denard, CB (drafted Ziggy Anseh last year)

Realistically, Atlanta or possibly Tampa would likely take him. But Greg Robinson and Sammy Watkins are legit blue chippers too and maybe Clowney has another speeding ticket or interviews poorly at the combine. If those teams go in other directions, do you look to work a trade up, maybe with Buffalo?

Our 2nd would get you up to around pick 8.

He won't slip that far, but to answer your question, we've got too many holes to fill.

Detroit would take him, they have no problem drafting the same position over and over again each year.

Atlanta will take him at the 6 pick..

But to answer the question OP. Don't get me wrong with Clowney, He's a great talent whenever he decides to motivate himself but i don't think this guy would be a good fit with Dallas. Yeah we could use him but the problem with Clowney is you don't know what type of player you going to get once he signs that contract.

I want a guy who's driven to be the best at his craft not looking for the big check & go with the flow..

After the game yesterday, if the top choices are an OT and Clowney, the Falcons will 100% take the OT. They gave up 9 sacks yesterday. This is a team built around the offense, and they can hardly function bc of how bad the OL was this year. No run game, and Ryan sacked and hit non-stop. Trust me, all of the talk in Atlanta is that the Falcons will look to fix the OL. They fired their OLine coach today as well.

No, only plays when he feels like it. Roster is already full of guys like that. The last thing the country club needs is another member.

Cause of everything he has dnde in the past year and if he keeps doing stupid things he'll slide further but then again is he a guy Garrett can keep in check or the veterans, seems too always be looking for trouble.

The problem with Detroit wasn't that they kept taking WRs, it was the WRs they took, sucked. Charles Rogers was a marijuana addict and never developed. Mike Williams was really just over rated, as well as lazy (or entitled, which ever you prefer). But given the logic of, they need to stop drafting WRs, they would've passed on Calvin Johnson, which would've made them an even bigger laughing stock when he developed for someone else.

And pass rushers are different. They do need to build the o-line, but if Clowney is there, he should be an option for them.

If he falls, then it indicates that he failed on the mental makeup or character evaluations of 9 teams because his physical ability is not in question.

If he failed all of those teams mental/character evaluations, then it would fail the Cowboys evaluation also.

I don't see a lack of effort when watching the Cowboys. Bruce Carter is the only guy that is questionable in that area, IMO.

I thought I read somewhere that the Raiders really love clowney...IMO they need a QB badly, but some people think clowney is a once in a generation-type guy...I don't buy that, but some think it...

to answer the question, there are very few players that I would trade up to get given the needs of this team, and clowney is not one of them...if anything, I would trade down to acquire more...if clowney was there at our pick, then this board will go nuts much like last draft when they traded down and got our center for the next 10 years...I can't see him lasting, but stranger things have happened

No. It's been discussed before; you do not trade up for talent in the 1st round unless you are one player away.

FWIW, Clowney was getting pushed around in the run game early on by WI.

According to walterfootball, they have the rams trading down from their 2nd pick and has clowney going 2 overall.I can see this happening.

Clowney has top talent however he doesn't always give top effort which is big problem for me... He's not better than Robert Quinn!
