Raiders just released Schaub , Would you rather have him or Weeden as a backup?

Schaub would fit our current offensive scheme really well, he played in something similar for some time.

He wouldn't be a bad backup at all.

Schaub played well for the Texans early on and he has won important games for them.

Injuries to him and his offense killed what was going on there in Houston.

I'd take him over Weeden.

I just have seen nothing from Weeden since arriving.

Time to probably draft a QB for once.

It wasn't injuries that killed what Schaub was doing it was a noodle arm and a mental collapse that caused him to throw pick 6 interceptions. They ran him out of town where he then got beat out by a second round rookie. The guy is a horrible mess. And he lost a ton of games..ask Andre Johnsons demeanor after losses.

Schaub threw a lot of pick sixes in like a span of half a season that I don't think even Weeden could achieve... That said, he did have some good years.

Is McCoy available? If rather let him sit behind Romo for a couple of seasons and see what he got. I wouldn't judge him by what he did in Cleveland, kid might have a future.

If McCoy didn't go to Texas he would have very few fans. He is terrible.

Wasn't there a rumor at one time that Dallas tried to sign McCoy after Cleveland released him? Anyway, I totally a agree with this. If McCoy realizes he's not getting starter money, he would be a great choice to back up Romo, and may actually develop into a late bloomer at the starting position later.

I can only assume from this that you haven't seen Schaub play recently.

Weeden, whom I think we would all agree was terrible last season and needs to be replaced, was (statistically) a significantly better QB in 2013-14 than Matt Schaub. Let that sink in for moment. When Brandon Weeden is making you look bad, it's probably time to hang 'em up.

Well, first off, he went to the Raiders. He was never fit for that offense, it was idiotic for them to even sign him.

And we wouldn't be bringing him in to be a starter, he's a backup. It was the same with people complaining about Shaun Hill. Are they great quarterbacks? Hell no. But I'll take them over any of the really young backups in this league who never played decent football in their lives.

Schaub is better than Weeden behind this offensive line. All of Schaub's poor play came behind sub-par pass blocking lines in HOU and OAK. He's smarter and has much more game experience than Weeden. Which is what you want from your backup.

And you know this how exactly? Frankly, your reasoning sounds suspiciously like the talk we heard on this board last off season about how our much better supporting cast was going to do wonders for Weeden.

Neither, again, this team is horrible with back up qbs. See if Dustin Vaughn is either a perm back up for the next QB. ths is silly and a waste of time.

ESPN radio just said McCoy is going back to DC.

Agree! I'm stunned... and have mentioned it twice in the tread....that people like Schaub so much. It had nothing to do with his line in Houston. It had to do with his head and his talent. The guy had a few good years due to Kubiak's system with running Foster and using play action to get AJ and others the ball. Horrible downfield thrower and his arm was always weak. Add no mobility and you have nothing. Their line was fine the year they went bad. He mentally broke down and just kept giving games away with pick 6s. They were in many games that were lost with his interceptions for TDs. So much so that they benched him. Even as a backup you have a noodle arm wouldn't be able to hit Dez downfield.
