So basically we traded spare parts on the OL.

l337.

Maybe, but, the RedStinks have the highest paid coaching staff in the history of the NFL and they will turn Fabini into a probowl player. He might even get into the HOF now!

I didn't know we released Fabini. When did that happen?

Man, what a waste if true. My biggest gripe about Parcells is his OL moves.

Ryan Young
Jason Fabini
Starting Petitti too soon, then releasing him to keep Fabini.
Jacob Rogers
Stephen Peterman
Torin Tucker
Marco Rivera

Did I miss any?

At almost every turn he blew it.

I continue to be disappointed over Petitti's release. The others you have to live with. Lots of bad luck in there.

What SuperPunk said.

Spears, Ellis, and Hatcher only hope he gets into a game for them.

I do agree with that to a degree. But when you hear that he made a couple of moves despite input from his staff, it makes you wonder.

For instance reports are he was told to steer clear of Rogers. I got a report last year that the entire staff wanted Petitti over Fabini and he vetoed it. Pittdawg basically verified that Rob was told the same thing.

I had high hopes for Ryan Young and Marco Rivera. If you remember I was opposed to Fabini. It pissed a lot of people off.

Just seems like he was snake bit at OL moves here. Columbo paid off.

I just don't understand why there's any disappointment with the Petitti move. The bottom line is that neither player (Petitti or Fabini) was the answer at RT. Fabini's value, however, was as a relatively cheap insurance policy -- one that provideded markedly better coverage than Petitti. Luckily we didn't have to cash it out and at the same time found our longterm answer at RT (*fingers crossed*).

It's called age and upside. I never liked the fabini signing. Go back and look if you doubt me. I wanted nothing to do with him at all.

the only thing you could really blame BP for was ignoring the advice of his scouting department to select Rogers, selecting Peterman too

but Tucker was a UDFA
Rivera was bad-luck
Ryan Young was bad-luck, you could also make a case that he was just a stop-gap
Fabini was a stop-gap
Pettiti has the makings of a career journeyman

I know you didn't like it. A lot of people didn't. I just think Bill made a calculation of which option had the greater value: (1) keeping Fabini as insurance, or (2) Petitti's youth and upside. In my opinion, Fabini as insurance, no matter how short a term, was more valuable that anything Petitti could ever provide. He was just that bad.

mcquistian is the only other move i know of. i also agree on petitti. maybe he was depth in the end, but he had a career ahead of him. fabini and rivera were bad moves from the start. one good place to address it is the draft but not many want to spend a 1st round pick on the line.

the game is won in the trenches, but we need to skimp on the line. go figure.

maybe. but he was still a parcells pick. he just couldn't do a damn thing for the OL.

I don't know how a spare-part signing can be considered a bad move, Fabini was just signed to add competition

I disagree with you on Petitti. As a run blocker I thought he did a good job and he had time to develop as a pass blocker. I feel he would have been more valuable to us than Fabini. Turns out I was right, Fabini is gone without having ever done squat here.

Except for finding and/or re-signing 4 of our 5 current starting O-line, which I think will be pretty sturdy this year.

Pettiti just lacks the necessary footspeed to be much good as a pass-blocker

neither provided squat for us and neither are starting next year
