Schottenheimer wouldn't even think about playing Diggs at S

Must be the dumbest question in the history of DC media.
Many DBs have transitioned to Free Safety with success, using their good ball-tracking skills.

Malik Hooker is a good tackler, but he's not the best cover guy back there, and his ball-tracking skills are average at best....which is why the Cowboys will definitely be looking at safeties during the draft.

What if Diggs solves the FS problem? Yes, you lose a good tackler in Hooker, but you may gain a better deep safety who can find the ball. It's actually a viable question worth considering.

Why would anyone consider playing Diggs at Safety?
You'd be better off resigning Zeke to play Center full time and Beebe to field goal kicker!
It was brought up because he does have some ball skills that we are lacking at the position

Not that he can tackle though

he's shy enough at corner.
can't imagine how timid he'd be at s.
thats why i love donovan wilson back there.
he has yet to encounter something he won't launch into.
im surprised he hasn't nailed a ref yet.
its coming.
#6 is not shy or timid...thats for sure.
He’s not shy or timid but misses tackles and has zero ball skills

I was really high on him a few years ago, but he’s dropped off

They might be trying to showcase him late in the season, pretending that he’s in their future plans in hopes of getting some trade value next spring.
Maybe they can recoup a 2nd or 3rd for him. Or is that asking too much at this point?

Smh I hate how people just think anyone can play safety lol. I get Rod and Woodson did it but they were on a HoF trajectory prior to the switch.

Offenses were also generally different back then too. Teams were not running spread out receiver sets with regularity, nor did every team have a quality receiving TE threat that every team seemingly has today. Most safeties nowadays are playing a portion of the field in zone or have an assigned reciever off the LOS in man coverage. So, the opportunity to just “roam” around just doesn’t really manifest itself in today’s game.

Diggs who's terrified of tackling.. at S.. that's like having a one legged kicker.

Players that can make the transition this deep into their career are outliers.
Even more important than Diggs tackling would be his intelligence.
He's best suited as a man cover corner.
He tends to look lost in zone.
That doesn't translate to the intelligence needed to play safety and be the defensive QB!

The only reason to associate "shut down" with Diggs is if they are going to shut him down foe the season, he sucks...im tired of his 10 yard cushion crap
It's a new DC man. Geez. Give the dude a break. Let the guy show if he can get back to being a lock-down corner...or something close to it. If he can't then you DX him next year. Simple as that. But we should NOT fail to kick the tires on our OWN guy before we toss him overboard. At the end of the day we need him down the stretch. Injuries happen. Depth matters. I fully trust Schotty to police the guy and give him a chance to EARN his way back.

In 2024...in only 11 games...Diggs had 45 solo tackles...11 PDs...2 INTs. By comparison (in 2024)...Quinyon Mitchell, through 16 games, had 37 solo tackles...12 PDs...zero INTs

Do we really need further proof of his lack of desire? He's shown his hand repeatedly. Get this clown out of Dallas. Don't need him.
if Diggs has any desire to stay in the NFL he will play his arss off knowing he is playing to stay in the NFL... lets see if he wants to stay..im good with that chance.

safety’s are expected to tackle and be somewhat physical. I’d don’t blame Schotty for throwing the idea out the window.

You can throw all the stats out there that you want but anybody who watched the game know Diggs want no part of that dawg mentality in defense . He’s going to make a couple to business decisions out there

I don’t think he would garner much with two knee surgeries in two years, and missing most of three seasons. No way we could get more than maybe a 6th or 7th rd pick. Plus his contract is so big he is not an attractive pick up at this point.

IMO he will most likely be a designated June 1 cut, saving quite a bit of cap space.

Watched "the game". Do you mean only ONE game? Whatever man. The guy can help this team. I'm rooting for him to come back and be something close to what he was three years ago. And if he can't then you have your answer for what to do with him next year.

THIS. If he can't get back to something close to what he was then it's not looking good for him long-term. He's really on a prove-it track going forward...and he probably knows it. Put good stuff on tape and hope for the best.
