Schottenheimer wouldn't even think about playing Diggs at S

Watched "the game". Do you mean only ONE game? Whatever man. The guy can help this team. I'm rooting for him to come back and be something close to what he was three years ago. And if he can't then you have your answer for what to do with him next year.
One game? Diggs has made won’t have business decisions. Have you seen #7 play for this team? He’s soft.

This is common for Diggs

Many DBs have transitioned to Free Safety with success, using their good ball-tracking skills.

Malik Hooker is a good tackler, but he's not the best cover guy back there, and his ball-tracking skills are average at best....which is why the Cowboys will definitely be looking at safeties during the draft.

What if Diggs solves the FS problem? Yes, you lose a good tackler in Hooker, but you may gain a better deep safety who can find the ball. It's actually a viable question worth considering.
Diggs doesn’t like hit anymore. Everytime he does he comes up gimpy. Safety’s need to be dogs. Even at Diggs best he wasn’t a dog.

To be fair, Diggs never tackled well enough to not notice. He's a cover guy, or he was really elite for a stint. But he's never been a hitter, just gotta get that out of your list of expectations. what he needs is a stronger LB core and a hard-nosed slot corner, then he and Bland can just blanket WRs and make plays. But we need talented LBers.

Why would anyone consider playing Diggs at Safety?
You'd be better off resigning Zeke to play Center full time and Beebe to field goal kicker!
Generally as a player gets older ghe chsnge from CB to safety is not a huge change. But it requires a smart CB who is also physical. Diggs is not physical enough to play safety

He’s a cover guy only and he’s a press cover guy mostly. He’s not great in space and doesn’t play physically enough to play safety

Hard to predict how Diggs responds to the criticism, if at all. His playing only 17 of the Cowboys’ last 39 games with $97M contract. That dog wont hunt.
Is this reminiscent of that time Ezekiel Elliot's on-field performance began to decline with decreasing yards per carry and reduced effectiveness. Reports of lack of effort and commitment behind the scenes, including disciplinary issues like arriving late to practice and being benched... Meanwhile, he was sitting on a $103 million contract. I hope for the best.

In this scheme, you must also tackle. That's the problem, it's one of him choosing not to tackle because he don't like the new scheme. It's called tackle football for a reason. Not cover football.
