Schotty on Mazi Smith: Sometimes change is good

If Schotty really thinks it was hard to say goodbye to Maxi, he's as bad a coach as I think he is. Can't recall Jimmy even wasting time talking about cutting dead weight.

I've been harsh with the jokes today. But to be fair if Mazi was a fifth round pick or later we'd be looking at him as a nice backup and rotational guy to have around.

It's really not his fault the scouts missed so badly on him. Players with his size, strength, and quickness should be true difference makers. There's just something missing with Mazi. Just one of those first round projection picks that went the wrong way.

From a personal standpoint I wish him the best and maybe he can turn his career around in New York. Good luck to him.

Let's just call it what it is......Mazi is a bust. I'm not sold on Schoonmaker as well. We've had a bad history with Michigan players, of late. Jourdan Lewis was iffy, at best.

It was a mistake from day 1. I called it just an easily as anyone who actually watches college football could have seen. I don't care about how fast or big the guy is. He was a mediocre football player and that didn't change from Michigan to the NFL. The pick should have been TJ Watt.........but Marinelli wanted the bigger guy.

Wrong draft year for Watt/Smith

He is still a human being, there is nothing wrong with Shotty wanting a guy to do well.

We fans tend to forget that coaches and players develop personal relationships so when trades are made it is more than just a business decision. Mazi did not live up to his draft status, but that is not entirely his fault. Maybe he was never that good to begin with. But that doesn't mean he was a bad person in the locker room. It doesn't mean he wasn't a god friend to someone.

This is a great opportunity for Mazi and I wish him the best in NJ. I also think it is his last chance to make it in the NFL. I hope he succeeds.

I thought Shotty said "sometimes change is good, if he gets a chance to START in NY..." I was like "W.T.***"

Lewis was a great pick....this defense misses him
Yes, he is missed on this team for sure. But I'd remind.....sometimes a fair player can look great on a bad team. Reminded me of Orlando Scandrick......looked well on our team, but really? And in fairness to Jourdan Lewis, he was never getting into a negotiating war for his services, but he is serviceable. Make sense?

Yeah. Treating grown men like they are not worth your time. That certainly makes a great coach. It makes you a few other things too
