Schrager final mock

Just a thought as we are about to force feed defensive picks this week regardless of value to the applause of too many, I would not select any defensive player that doesn't fully embrace the Hot Boyz moniker.

Go be a purple people eater or a steel curtain if you don't.

You're either all in or you're not.

How bout dem Hot Boyz!?!

I don’t love Lawrence. I have season tickets to UCF and getting a good chunk of knowledge watching them.

I feel like him and Faulk are opposites.

Faulk will set the edge and help the run but produce limited pass rush.

Lawrence will add to the pass rush but struggle setting edges and against the run

But at 29, Lawrence is as good as it gets

Not a Bain fan but if he is there at 12 the Cowboys should pick him or trade back and get a haul. I personally don’t like trading pack to 29 to move up to 9. Pick 20 is valuable, I think we might be able to get a late 1 plus a late 2 for 20.

No Hood in the first is interesting. I'd rather go Bain/Hood after a trade down than Delane/Lawrence.

Well, if he's the pick we wish you well with your new team.

He has the Cardinals trading up two spots from 34 to 32 with the Seahawks to select Ty Simpson. Giving up a 5th rounder for it.

Lets hope be doesn't go back to back on the Cowboys 1st round pick.

9. Dallas Cowboys (via projected trade with KC)

Mansoor Delane, CB, LSU

OK, our first trade! I could see this happening. After allowing 377 yards per game and letting opponents convert on third down 47.3% of the time -- ranking among the worst in the NFL in both -- Dallas has to get one of the top defensive prospects. It's a necessity. But there's no guarantee any of them -- Downs, Delane, Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. et al -- will still be there at No. 12. This is a chance to guarantee getting one of them and still have another first-round pick. Delane's coverage ability should help stop some of the big plays that doomed the Cowboys in 2025.

Projected trade

Chiefs get: No. 12 and No. 20
Cowboys get: No. 9 and No. 29

29. Dallas Cowboys (via projected trade with KC/LAR)

Malachi Lawrence, Edge, UCF

Lawrence has quietly risen the board over the past two months, and I wouldn't be surprised if he hears his name late in Round 1. Dallas gets the defense-defense double up that has been predicted for a while, but it does it from two different picks than expected after the projected trade. Lawrence can boost the pass rush; he had seven sacks in 2025.

The trade is ok but IMO we should get a little more back, their 5th probably.
But if I am giving up draft capital to move up, it's only for Bailey, Downs or Styles.
If it's a CB at 12 or before, I would say it's only because the medicals on McCoy checked out and he's viewed as the best CB in this class. (I hear otherwise so I doubt it.)
I personally don't think Delane is much better of a prospect than Hood or even Johnson, who we could possibly get at 20, or even later. I also have more faith in healing time and Parker turning around Revel and Bland. I'd rather we looked at a slot CB like Stukes or Scott at 92.

As would I but I fear that’s a pipe dream.
Yeah, and I hate where we are at LB after this mock. I do like the players, but our biggest need wont be addressed until too late to find a dependable starter.

I'm sure we could find some legit talent still, but we'll need to make a trade for a vet.

My feelings on the draft would be contingent on how we handled the position.

I also can't imagine the Seahawks giving a divisional rival a potential QB and a fifth year option for just a 5th rounder. That is Cowboy levels of stupid.

I’d have no problems with this. But it then makes it imperative that you get a linebacker with pick #92, be that a rookie or the well-reported trade with Miami for Jordyn Brooks (preferred).
I would love for us to add Brooks and have a vet MLB that can manage the heart of the D. Would love for that to be a 3rd rounder next year if possible.

I have zero issues with Delane at 9 in theory.

I would love a trade back at 29 to the early 2nd round and try and pick up another 3rd rounder.

We simply have too many needs. Lawrence is not a bad pick if we have to stand at 29, but adding more picks is a critical need IMO.

Schrager had to put the mock out a day early this year so he doesnt have the last 24 hpurs if Intel he usually gets. Might affect his accuracy.

Why would Parker need to turn around Revel? He was a rookie who missed everything and had to play at the end of the season with a knee brace on. He hasn't even had a fair shot yet.

Getting Bain at 12 gives you plenty of options at 20.......trading back and getting an extra 2nd or 3rd or 2027 1st.

I’d take that haul in a heartbeat.

The trade value is a different question.
