Scouts leary about Jameis Winston

Is Jameis Winston's stock falling? The Heisman Trophy winner was in trouble again this week. And while Winston's half-game suspension for yelling an obscenity in public pales in comparison to the prior situations he's been wrapped up in, NFL scouts are watching. "It'll hurt him significantly," said one area scout assigned to Florida State. "Especially with all the stuff going on in the league. This may force him to stay another year to clean up his image. He's a fraud. You can't believe anything he says, because he keeps doing the same things over and over. In my mind, there are night-and-day differences between (Johnny) Manziel's and his character concerns. Winston has some serious issues." Added an AFC college scouting director, "It just adds to his issues, and he's only been in college two years and a month. Lots of maturity issues, but also criminal." The bottom line is the NFL people I talk to believe the image that Winston has put forward is manufactured. That'll be tough to overcome.

The half game suspension has turned into a full game. IMO way too many off the field issues with him to not drop.

Do you want this guy to be your QB?

just doesn't seem like he's very intelligent. I was convinced his success last year was largely due to the fact that he was surrounded by a ridic amount of talent

Actually from what I have read scouts think he is intelligent. Problems are maturity and behavior.

If he is there when the Cowboys draft I am fairly certain the GM will give him strong consideration.

I'd take him in the 6th round, no sooner.

Then I'd sit him for a year or two to humble his arse.

We missed on Manziel I doubt Jerry can pass on such a QB again in his lifetime.

Can this guy really play? To me he is just not that impressive, his throwing motion seems all screwed up. Is he really that great a QB?

Evaluators: Jameis Winston should put off draft, stay at FSU

NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah suggested last week on the College Football 24/7 Podcast that Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston would be wise to put off the NFL draft and return to FSU next year as he tries to rehabilitate his image.

It appears many are following Jeremiah's lead this week.

"I think that's a pretty easy decision," a former NFL general manager told si.com. "That would be my 100 percent advice. Come back and say, 'Look, I made mistakes and learned from them. I have over a year of impeccable behavior that shows what I learned.' Without question, that would go a long way."

Winston has already shown he is a much better passer and QB than JaMarcus Russell. He is lacking in maturity and is gaining that entitled attitude. I would compare him to Ryan Leaf.

He's immature & FSU coddles to him because he's the difference maker on the team.

Johnny Football II except JM never got arrested.

Johnny Manziel got arrested in 2012 before he was ever named the starting QB for A&M.
