Scouts talk bluntly about Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston and the top quarterbacks

No, it doesn't. A lot of people talk about his fire, his leadership and how those who play with him look up to him as the leader of the team.

Would you happen to live in Florida? The Kool Aid has been flowing there. It reminds me of the A&M fans who were convinced Manziel would flourish in the NFL.

Yeah, it does. Even the guys hyping him say he is arrogant and overly confident on and off the field. It is one of the biggest reasons for his atrocious TD/INT ratio last season.

No, I don't. But neither do many of the NFL commentators who laud Winston on his leadership.
Second, Manziel isn't flourishing because he's not dedicated to the game and because he thinks he can outrun people in the NFL like he could in college. Winston doesn't try to outrun defenders. He's always looking to make plays from the pocket.

Quotes, please, from these guys saying he's arrogant?
Thank you.
And are you saying that because a quarterback throws interceptions, that the quarterback is arrogant?

That's pretty dense...

I am saying he trusts his arm a little too much so he makes poor decisions expecting he can fit the ball into tight spots. ALA Brett Favre, with not nearly the arm strength. He is buying his own hype a little too hard.

As for your links, which you would have to live under a rock to need...

There's a prominent writer, a General manager, a coach and a Hall of Fame player saying it... Should I go on? The fact you would even try to argue with me that the guy is arrogant shows a blatant and obvious agenda.

I can see Grayson being Andy Dalton type.

Petty I think can be a real winner in the NFL if he gets two years before he has to see the field. He is a guy that has all the physical talent and is someone that will live in that film room

I agree with this. I'm a Baylor fan and while I would love to root for Petty as a Cowboy I don't want them to expend the resources it'll take to get him unless we pick up extra picks in a trade down.

Petty though has an excellent work ethic and will put in the work. I'm hoping he gets drafted by a team like the Saints or Broncos where he gets to sit for a couple years behind a successful qb.

I think the Broncos are sticking with Osweiler. He has looked pretty good in preseason

Remember what they said about a qb that has won 4 Super Bowls. The report on him was slow, not a good thrower, doesn't throw a tight spiral, arm strength is below average, not very elusive, only be at best average. What they couldn't measure was this guy heart. The qb that I sm talking about is none other than Tom Brady.

Apparently the issue was with their evaluation of his arm if you ware talking about Brady. He has phenomenal arm talent. He like Rodgers and Aikman can stick those routes 20 to 25 yards downfield on a rope.

That may be true though I do know a couple Denver/Baylor fans who want him.

I was more using those two teams as examples of the situation he would have the best chance for success more so than hoping for them specifically.

Ironically I think the Cowboys would be one of those situations.

I would love to get Petty if we were to trade out of the first and get an extra day 2 pick. I think he can be had at the top half of the third. I dont think he lasts to our 3rd

What's dense? Asking you a question and asking you to clarify yourself? Funny, I thought that was a sign of curiosity and intelligence. :)

Anyway, so trusting his arm and thinking he can make the throw is arrogant?

Lol!

Thanks for the links, but I thought we were talking about his leadership and that he was perceived as arrogant in his on-the-field play. At least that's what I was talking about. And have you met Jamies Winston?

Arrogance is a matter of opinion. People who've never even met players think they know them enough to call them arrogant, selfish, etc. That's funny.
And I find it amusing that a simple disagree sends you into a condescending snippet as if your view can't be challenged. Insecurity much? :)
Yeah, I have an agenda alright. Just as soon as I find it, I'll let you know what it is.

Oh, and did you read all of those links before you listed them as evidence?

Brown never says Winston is arrogant. In fact, he goes out of his way to praise him for his play making ability.
Bowden says he is self-confident and sure of himself then says some people may interpret that as smug.
Big wow! People interpret a self-confident person as arrogant. That's what people ALWAYS say about people who are self-confident.
Again, the links have NOTHING to do with my initial point that people, particularly his teammates, see Winston as a leader on the field.
You seem to be angry about Winston's off-field conduct. That is your right, but that's not what I'm talking about. :)

You don't draft based on exceptions
You draft the norm
Or else we should never draft a QB just take fliers on UDFAs:rolleyes:

Honestly, I don't even know where to begin, but I'll try...

The dense comment was because it was pretty clear you were being sarcastic and playing dumb.

No, trusting your arm is not arrogant, but a QB can be over confident in his ability and take some chances he shouldn't. I already clarified this. Selective read much?

No, I haven't met Jamies Winston. Have you? I also haven't met Aaron Hernandez, but I can tell you with complete confidence he isn't a good person. I'll appreciate it if you make no further claims or voice any opinions on this message board that don't come from your own personal experience with a player. We'll see how that works...

Arrogance is absolutely a matter of opinion and I am voicing mine. That's kind of how these message boards work.

Condescending snippet? You asked for links, so I provided them.

And seriously, now I'm insecure? Wait, have you met me? Are you even qualified to make such a statement?

This is your problem here. You making an assumption. I was asking a legitimate question and was not being sarcastic. I don't come on these forums looking to get snippy with posters. Some of you, however, come with chips on your shoulders.

No, trusting your arm is not arrogant, but a QB can be over confident in his ability and take some chances he shouldn't. I already clarified this. Selective read much?

So is being over confident being arrogant?

No, I haven't met Jamies Winston. Have you?

I've met someone very close to him. But I'm not making judgments on whether he's arrogant or not. ;)

I also haven't met Aaron Hernandez, but I can tell you with complete confidence he isn't a good person.

Because he's been convicted of murder?

I'll appreciate it if you make no further claims or voice any opinions on this message board that don't come from your own personal experience with a player. We'll see how that works...

It depends on the comments I make and the context in which they are shaped.
First, I was talking about Jameis Winston's leadership on the field.
Second, I said many people believe he's a strong leader on the field.
Third, YOU jumped into the conversation and said he's arrogant.
Fourth, I asked you how you know this.
Fifth, you provided me links that don't say anything about the issue I was talking about.

If you want to talk about how he makes poor decisions, places himself in the wrong situations off the field, fine. Those are objective issues based on actions. But to say someone is arrogant is subjective because it's based on interpretation of emotions and attitudes, not necessarily facts.

Arrogance is absolutely a matter of opinion and I am voicing mine. That's kind of how these message boards work.

Fine. But I voiced my opinion that he's a leader on the field. You took exception to that and started trying to be condescending and insulting. I'll remind you that I did not respond to your post first. You responded to mine. I'm not talking about what he's done off the field. That wasn't the context in which I framed my comments about leadership and fire and how many people feel he has those qualities as a leader of a football team.

Condescending snippet? You asked for links, so I provided them.

You think I'm talking about your links? Links can't be condescending. I'm talking about your attitude and the immediacy in which you were quick to be insulting. I don't think you're dumb so I know you know what I'm talking about.

And seriously, now I'm insecure? Wait, have you met me? Are you even qualified to make such a statement?

As you said before, it's my opinion. That's kind of how these message boards work. ;) :)
