Teams with franchise QB’s are consistently contenders.

Yes, they are out of control . It’s the nature of the beast. Do you think we are going to change that ?

No, but you can’t make a mistake either. I’ve stated many times on this board that I’m a big Dak supporter and I want him on this team. But, I want him at a fair price. I think Dak is a top 10 QB in the league. He is NOT a top 3 (potential yes, but not now) and shouldn’t be paid like one. I think the Rams and Eagles both overpaid for their QBs and I don’t want to do the same thing. The FO did make a mistake this offseason by slapping the regular franchise tag on Dak. They should’ve tagged him so he could explore the market. His eyes would’ve been opened in my opinion.

Stephen Jones finally came out and said that aside from the Mahomes deal (which at 10 years is hardto compare) Dallas offered Dak the most lucrative contract in NFL history.

He won’t be a top paid QB long. Top 10 QB’s are usually overpaid at least initially.

We did it with Romo too . Flacco was top paid year before. It changes every year.

It’s silly to get hung up on that for one year.

Stephen didn't hire Garrett. He wanted him gone in 2015, but that was Jerry's decision to make. Now we'll see. Say hello to flo for me.

Stephen doesn’t hire any of the HC’s. They’re all Jerry’s decision.

IF they play this year, and IF they don’t have major injuries, they should be dropping 40 burgers on everyone. Dak’s best leverage is a monster year.

He’s still our QB. And the negotiations can pick back up after the season.

lol @ acting like Dak is gone.

They can do that after they see how he plays for McCarthy this year.

Just heard it on local radio this evening
Thats the best I can do at this stage.

    Not really breaking news
We had heard it was in the range of 35/yr (5 yrs 175mil)
So....if it was 35.01 it would be highest. Wilson is highest at 4 years 140 (35/yr)

I think Stephen's whole deal with his bargaining stance is that he doesn't want to deal with an agent that isn't willing to compromise. The C'boys FO is in a desperate bind with the pressures of a huge financial downturn in 2020.

Even with an adamant player rep like Todd France, there has to be some degree of compromise when horrible financial times demand give and take.

This seems like a reasonable take on the situation to me. Unfortunately, for Dak, he's been caught in the crossfire. The timing for being respectful of a desperate situation is an extremely crucial element in this instance. This is anything but a normal circumstance. (jmho)

That's rich coming from someone who, on another thread, writes ..."Yea, I heard the counter offer was for 37 million."

    With no referencing whatsoever.

I think the original article is a piece of propaganda.

It criticizes the payment to Zeke, but fails to point out that we were able to give him that contract as he agree to 6 years and gives us the chance to cut or restructure in the future....it's the way the Jones like to structure the contracts.

I totally agree that Dak/ Frances steadfast position really left no chance to negotiate.
