Payton: Hey Santa, stop giving so many gifts of blown coverage, poor tackling, and no pass rush to their offense.

Ryan: Ho Ho Ho.....Merry Christmas

Payton: Look you jolly, fat elf, don't make me send your sorry donkey back to the North Pole

Ryan: On Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer, on Vixen..........

Payton: Nevermind, it's like talking to a wall...........Someone get me Drew

The 46 defense is not set to handle the multiple WR sets of todays NFL.
Plus you have to have about 4 killer players on that side of the ball for it to work.

Just like in Dallas Robs D folds like a cheap suit. When are guys going to understand that? Now in a couple of weeks his D will look good against Dallas, but I still think the Cowboys can win. If the game was in NO it would be a loss.

If we are good.
If Garrett had any play here.

He/Romo and company should be able to scheme Ryan's defense into submission.... But I digress...

He doesn't really use a 46 defense. Occasionally he may give a few 46 looks here and there. But it's really a 3-4 scheme.

I still like Rob, but I didn't want him as our D-Coordinator anymore. I think currently the way to go is with a 4-3 scheme. The passing game in today's NFL is such where it dictates the use of a 4-3 because you can keep your best 4 pass rushers rushing the QB on each play and have more team speed to help counter those WR screens and flare routes.

If I had a problem with Rob's 3-4 scheme it's that he too often tried to out-scheme offenses and a good, disciplined offense would not be fooled as much. And too often that would lead to poor fundamental football and out-smarting yourself. For about every game where the defense looked brilliant and stifled a great QB, it would look comically bad at missing coverages and assignments while struggling to substitute players.

The fact is that he is just not nearly as good of a defensive mind as his brother. He has all of the exotic blitz and coverage packages that his brother has, but he doesn't know how to manage it.
