The most interesting thing to me is going to be seeing how Weeden performs in his second year with the Dallas offense. Can't expect much from any QB in Cleveland and not much more of a QB in his first year learning an offensive system.
I'm always a wait and see kind of guy and usually optimistic, so I can see Weeden surprising everyone and playing very well. Ty Crawford, Lee, Hitchens and our crew of DBs have been playing very well. We get Gregory back any time and Hardy/RoMac in two and a half weeks. I'm guessing Leary plays Sunday.
Weeden goes 4-4.
Romo goes 4-2.
10-6
I think his 2nd season in Dallas under Linehan will show. You are entitled to your opinion. I think QB are capable of learning and improving.
Mickey Spagnola was on the NFLN this morning. He was asked about bringing in Cassell. He said in 1993, this reminds him a bit of that year. As to bringing in a vet QB to protect themsleves for having an experienced QB. Now this is different, as Weeden is in his 2nd year here, and has started 28 games in the NFL.
But in 93, Aikman hurt his hamstring, and was going to miss some playing time. They had Jason Garrett as backup, and threw a total of 13 passes as his NFL experience. So they brought in Kosar as that back up vet experience. Garrett played 1 1/2 quarter, had a 3-0 lead. But Kosar was Jimmy's QB, so he came in later.
He was not saying this will happen, as Weeden knows this offense, and Kellen Moore has no real game experience. So they want that vet there as insurance.
I think we will see a better Weeden this being his 2nd year now in Linehan's system.
