Seattle Rewind - Frederick / Martin

These guys are so young and dominate. Frederick constantly beat up on Mebane. Martin pancaked Wagner on 3 plays in a row. On Witten's TD Martin just stood his guy up at the line not giving an inch while the rest dropped into a passing stance. He then put the guy on the ground and went on to celebrate with Witten.

These two are just awesome. They combine and dominate unlike any lineman I have seen in a while, and I think Martin will make the Pro Bowl this year.

Said it before - The lineman Dallas has picked aren't just first round picks, you COULD argue that each should have been the #1 pick in each draft based on payoff. Well, I guess I haven't put it that way before, but yeah, I just said it. Think about it - a LT that just got voted O Player of the week, T Fred is arguably the best C in the league in year 2 of his NFL life, and ZMart is being talked up as O Rookie of the year. NUTS!!!

I get your point, but you've taken it too far.

Just look at this gif. Four man rush. Two Hawks end up on the ground. One almost gets pushed into the end zone by a rookie. The closest guy is on our "weakest link" and he's 5 yards away 5 seconds after the snap.

Who is having a better season Fred or Martin? Love these guys and I'll admit when we drafted Fred I was one of the people who never heard of him

Yeah, but we way overpaid for Fredrick (RG3 type of overpaid)....everybody knew he would have been available in the seventh round so why give up a draft pick for him.everybody knows only the Cowboys had him on their radar. And how we could take Martin when the only logical choice was DL. Picking Any other position besides DL after fielding one of the worst defenses in the history of the league was shear stupidity. /sarcasm

I'm sure glad the front office made the decision and not the fans\media.

I really like this inside combination (Leary, Fred and Martin). I don't know if move Martin next yr to RT is good option, maybe business decision but the inside game will be affected. These guy are a bunch of brawlers and bring an A plus Protection. They can extend the Romo career.

On one of the multiplicity of highlight/reruns this week, Jeezy was heard saying "good job guys ... he had 20 f'ing seconds to throw that ball". :lmao2:

I think Romo is now getting used to having a real O line again. He was definitly getting happy feet the last year or so and who could blame him? Now I believe he believes and he is not as jittery.

Seems like the first couple of games they struggled a bit in pass blocking but then all of a sudden about game 3, it's like a switch got turned on. It seems as though Tony has at least five seconds in the pocket more often than not. What really excites me is that these guys aren't even really accustomed to playing with each other yet. They should be THE dominant line in football for the next decade, or thereabouts.

And that's against Seattle, no less!

Yup, I definitely agree. During the off season and preseason I still had thoughts of Martin moving out to RT next season, but after seeing how well he, Fredrick, and Leary are gelling on the inside, I wouldn't want to disturb that at all. Let's either resign Free to a cheap deal (if he would go for it), or get another young guy in the draft. Could you imagine if we make it 4/4 with drafting a stud in a different line position 4 years in a row? THAT would be epic (as if 3 for 3 isn't already epic).

I think you have it backwards. These first six games are the first six games of his rookie NFL career. By most standards the first games are severe learning curves.
Martin will get better.

I'm with you on this too, monkey man. Martin has nowhere to go but up.

Correct. Martin has played well for six weeks. I doubt he can play THAT dominant every week for the rest of the season.

True.

Once other teams get some tape on what Martin is doing and not doing..

things could chance as the season goes on.

But at least for now..

Its fun to watch after all the years of OL futility.

And as good as Martin is in run blocking he is just as good in pass pro. I would say he's the best pass blocker of the interior OL. And This is coming from a big homer when it comes to Fredbeard and Leary (aka McSmeary).
