Why oh why do people want to keep bringing in other people's refuge and trash. He just got released from
the 2nd team in 3 months. There must be some reason why he can't stick. Why not just develop the
7 guys we have on our team now and see if we can make some hay from our homegrown stock. Geez...

Maybe because s bunch of the young guys on this team has just as good of a chance a selling cars next season as playing. It never hurts to look. Actually it hurts if you don't.

Think I would give McGee, McKinnon and Thomas' spots to Boykin. Heck I would give Boykin their combined salaries too if possible. Boykin is not just a slot guy, he is a playmaker - after the INT (has good hands and instincts for picks) AND in the return game.

Again, would rather have Chris Culliver (bigger, faster, better upside and he plays outside) but I would sign Boykin over those 3 guys I just mentioned.

I don't disagree with the idea of Culliver, and I see some value in Boykin mainly because he has return ability but in reality is there a spot for him here? Barring injuries, I expect our corners to be Carr, Claiborne, Scandrick, Olatoye and Mitchell. I think Boykin has a slim shot at beating Olatoye or MItchell because he can play the slot so has a puncher's chance. We don't really have a true slot guy outside of Scandrick.

I like culliver and Boykin. The only concerns w culliver are his off field issues ( 2 misdemeanors) and recovering from his torn ACL. I see no problem with bringing in competition.

Mo or Carr, perhaps both will be gone next season. I honestly have seen enough of the both of them. But you are right, Boykin would have a tough time beating out Olatoye and Mitchell simply because they are the bigger corners that Cowboys prefer now. I agree that there really is no depth behind Scandrick at slot corner and he would be a serious contender to win the starting return job.

And don't forget the picks. Boykin, unlike the 3 projected starters (Carr, Mo, Scandrick), knows how to go and get the ball.

Other teams have looked closely. He has been weighed, he has been measured and, he has been
found wanting!

7. Leon Hall
2015 team: Cincinnati Bengals

There was a time when Hall was among some of the best cover corners in the league, particularly in the slot. He was on his way to a potential career-year in 2013 before a second Achilles injury cut his season short. Even though he is not quite the same player he used to be, he has earned above-average coverage grades in each of his nine seasons in the league. Hall is best when playing in the slot, a position that not every cornerback can play. With the abundance of spread looks in the NFL, Hall can make a large contribution even if he’s not a starter.

8. Brandon Boykin
2015 team: Pittsburgh Steelers

Just a few seasons ago in 2013, Boykin was among our highest-graded cornerbacks in coverage. After being traded to Pittsburgh for a late-round draft pick prior to the start of this season, he hardly saw the field for much of the season. The Steelers finally gave him more playing in Week 13, and he played well. He had one interception, two pass defenses, and allowed a passer rating of 65.0 over the final five weeks of the regular season.

Can he beat out any of our top 3? If you don't think he has a serious shot, save the $ and either trade for Dlineman or wait for someone to get cut.

The Cowboys had a 4th round grade on him. So did Dane Brugler, Broaddus had him as a 3rd.

He seems like a guy that could be a Dime Corner and Backup FS, even as a rookie. He has the physical skills, he is definitely a guy to watch in training camp.

Among the Cowboys' hallmarks have been to
1. Keep some players beyond their expiration dates
2. Go after players with a big name and big rep that are clearly on the downside in talent and in age.

Quit it. Keep the front office's noses to the grindstone and develop our youth, some of whom will develop into fine players.

Think I'll just put my trust in Will McClay to a greater extent than myself or anyone here to determine if Boykin is worthy of a looksee or not.
