A second report has surfaced linking former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith to the vacant USC job.
Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reported Sunday that Smith has interviewed for the position that came open when Lane Kiffin was fired Sept. 29.
This follows an Oct. 14 report by WSCR-AM host and Chicago Tribune contributor Mike Mulligan that Smith was a candidate for the job. That report was quickly denied by IMG's Matt Smith, who is Lovie Smith's son and agent.
Smith served as a college assistant coach for 13 years before joining the NFL, with stops at Tulsa, Wisconsin, Arizona State, Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio State.
