The D has been causing alot of turnovers and that is what helps you win ball games - especially the close ones. The secondary has been playing great and shut down the supposed biggest threat WR in the NFC East. I think that title should go to Austin because he tore up double coverage to score the go-ahead TD.
As a group they didn't allow too much over the middle: Philly's WRs looked at little scared crossing the middle and had the infamous alligator arms when they ran those dig routes. Thx to Oakland for laying out the simple game plan to beat the Eagles - pressure the QB and don't give up the sidelines against undersized WRs.
Newman is being #41. He almost had a pick but didn't come up with the catch. He pretty much played solid against all the Philly WRs and didn't give up a huge play. Solid play helped the rest of the secondary.
Hat's off to Sensabaugh for getting that tipped pass with a cast over his hand/thumb. The only negative play he had was the Celek TD - but it came on a busted play. Had he kept pursuing Celek, McNabb would have tucked the ball and ran for the 1st, but he committed to going after McNabb and Celek slipped in the end zone and Sensabaugh was too late getting back to covering Celek. Nothing he could do - I look at it like a Romo play when the QB improvises they have a darn good chance of making the play.
Jenkins is living up to his draft potential and will be the official #1 DB on this team in a short while if he keeps playing like he is playing. The play on Maclin was beautiful - he came under an underthrown ball and made the catch, the facemask penalty was just a bonus.
Scandrick is doing good too, although it seems like teams are attacking him on 3rd downs more than others. Scandrick has alot of great upside but he needs to get the mental part of the game down. He's late in turning his head and locating the ball - if he does it quicker or read's the reciever's body language he'll have more pass break-ups/ints.
Hamlin almost had and interception off a tipped pass but couldn't close in on it. He's been the subject of alot of criticism but his play has been serviceable. We should look at drafting a safety that could challenge Hamlin for a spot and maybe elevate his play because right now nobody is gonna take his spot and he's playing like it.
