but its past 3 pm, thats the deadline i thought?

so why arent those names released or trades done yet?

The Cowboys actually have a little more time to make their roster cuts. This year's deadline is 5 p.m. (CDT) so NFL Network can outlast college football's opening Saturday with an 8 p.m. cutdown special.

Crazy..., I think if they want Hannah they keep him as a fourth TE, the guy isn't a blocker so they need to keep Curtis.

That's not how it works.

Players are on the waiver wire for 24 hours. Any team can put in a claim for them, no matter how many players are on their roster or when they cut down to 53 (or any other number). After the 24 hours, the team highest in the claiming order who put in a claim is awarded that player, and they then must make room for that player on their roster.

For players not subject to waivers, they can sign with any team at any time.

There is NO disadvantage to waiting to make cuts, in terms of being able to pick up other players. The only timing issue is when you want to expose your own players who you want to sneak onto the practice squad.

Exactly. Besides, I think most teams want our cuts more than we want their cuts.

I think some of you forget that the deadline for cutting players is when teams must submit their 53-man rosters to the NFL, not to the media. The NFL and the teams can release the final roster cuts to the media whenever they want.
