Selvie seems to be making lots of plays for a street free agent who has had a limited amount of snaps with the Cowboys organization. Maybe he turns out to be this year's L. Robinson. The organization deserves props for finding this guy and having the fortitude to play him.

He and Hayden have looked very good.

I say don't give Spencer his job back until he actually beats out Selvie.

There is no reason to take that guy off the field for an unhealthy Spencer.

In fact make them rotate all season and drive Spencers price down.

I can agree with making him earn his job. But I can't agree with intentionally driving his price down. If we don't plan on resigning him, then why ruin his chances with a new team?

Selvie has had an outstanding start to his Dallas Cowboys football career. If this trend continues, Vaya con Dios Spencer :)

In all seriousness, we still need Spencer back to finish out the season for depth purposes.

Spencer has made 20 Mill in 2 years and he isn't a 10 Mill a year player.

Drive that guys price down to where it should be unless he is just a monster this year and keeps Selvie benched.

Yeah, 11 million bench depth. We should have traded him for pick in 2014.

Odds are we don't keep him regardless of what his price is. There are guys worse than Spencer who are getting massive contracts. Spencer was always an underrated 3-4 OLB and had an elite season at the position last year. Because of last year, I'm sure there are 3-4 teams willing to throw big money at him. I have no problem with that. He earned it. This year, he has the opportunity to show his versatility. If he has an excellent season in the 4-3, then he'll have potential suitors in every team in the NFL next season. If he bombs, he'll still have suitors in all the 3-4 teams. He earned whatever contract a team is willing to give him next year.

I'm very happy with Selvie play he has done a great job but fact is Dallas will rotate to help keep guys fresh. How will Spencer do in this 4-3 where he is not asked to drop into coverage much of the time? I guess we will find out. Personally I hope he comes back and plays great ball and helps this defense become even stronger.

I agree, leave Selvie as the starter and make Spencer beat him out.

Spencer was not underrated. He was just a solid player. Nothing more and nothing less.

It got so bad with him rushing the passer that they were looking to take him out on passing downs. He looked like a 2 down player.

I don't trust this guy and never will. Even if he has another double digit sack season.

Solid player but I wouldn't want to give him meaningful salary cap money because he just seems like a guy that will go back to AVG as soo as he gets his money.

Never said Spencer was the back-up, just said we need all of the bodies for depth. How this plays out as to who starts, etc, I don't know. Have a feeling that Spencer starts as soon as he is ready to play though, for better or for worse.

I have a feeling Spencer is going to heal up real quick if Selvie keeps playing like this. :D

On a serious note, Selvie could be part of a great DE rotation. Especially if he comes in fresh on obvious passing downs. Getting consistent pressure on the QB helps our DBs.

That is what I pointed out last night. He is proving he deserves increased playing time and adds to any rotation plans to keep our DL fresher.

I'll never have a problem with the better player being on the field, but George Selvie has like a handful of sacks in his career, Spencer has proven to be a good player week in and week out, so when he's healthy, he plays, plain and simple.

That is what Im banking on. I hope both he and Spencer give the OT hell and are in the backfield making plays and helping this team win. Forget the personal stuff or what may happen next year right now the object is to go out and win football games. When a player steps on the field I want nothing more than that player to help this team.

I agree. To say Spencer "loses his job" is way over the top.

His price will already be down now because of his age, last year was really his chance to cash in, and we tagged him. If he puts up 10.5 sacks, or what ever he had last year, he's still looking at a smaller bonus, fewer years and less overall money then he would've had at age 29 as opposed to 30.

I am looking forward to see what he does this year with his hand on the ground and rushing every play.
